So looking at the road map from last year which ends in 2024 (Q1 or Q2 I can't remember) mentions "new game systems" for this year.

Do people think this means the next expansion?

If so what would it be?

My guess would be a religion focused expansion, perhaps with a religion era star and some religion focused cultures?

The one issue with my theory is that if they were to introduce religion start than there would need to be a way of generating these stars from the beginning which is not possible as a religion needs to be founded first.

I'm curious what are peoples thoughts on this?

I wonder if we get any more DLCs for Humankind. Obviously, they can't work on the game forever. Humankind will be 3 years old in august of this year. I'd say, they should release one more bigger expansion and maybe 1 or 2 more culture packs. After that, move on to develop a new 4X game.

I am upset. This name for the last pack, "Définitive edition", it's as if the work on Humankind was finished.

I hope I am misunderstanding it. There is so much potential in Humankind. Some studios, like Paradox, are able to work and release DLCs on one game for years

Watching the Twitch stream yesterday they said that they will still work on the game. "Definitive edition" just means it is ready to play...... OK nothing made sense there yesterday, but the essence is they haven't closed the game yet

Even if they say there are more culture packs and new mechanics, I'm not sure if I believe it.

Definitive edition is definitive.

I tried the George Sands update. The picture below is basically how I feel about the game - some nice shiny things, but can't use them. Nice cultures, but they've been nerfed (I've said before, why nerf stuff so bad rather than boost other things - long ago examples: deer hunting, sanctuary ransacking, sacrifice pop to build, etc, etc.). Nice wonders, but some of them have benefits that add less than a single district. Nice options for game rules but none of them change how to play the game (meta-wise).

For those who can't see the image clearly, a nice Lake Heller wonder on it's own 2 territory island province that you cannot colonize!

Neolithic was too generous for awhile that was a positive change but I was underwhelmed by Sands update. They really should have dialed back the descriptive hype. I had expected... well what can I say, I was pot committed but I'm out of optimism about it. I still love the mechanic though of changing cultures.

I took definitive to mean "We're done pretending to take feedback on all the mechanics we broke." Which is nice to know. Personally.
