Moving at the crawl seen in this video is not very pleasant in the late game.

I was using click-and-drag to move around the map quickly. Until the speed is increased that might be a solution for you.

Oh my god yes, the map scroll is super too slow. It should be, like, fast if you're near/at a screen edge, maybe slow scroll as you approach the edge. (I think several other strategy games have solved this?)

I came to say the same thing.  Both scrolling, and zooming in and out.

I suspect the view camera has some sort of "acceleration" parameter, such that rather than immediately increasing the velocity from 0 to the desired velocity, the velocity is instead slowly increased from 0.  But really I just wish the camera started moving at the top velocity immediately upon the user's keystroke.

Yes. its just unbearably slow to move it.  

Click and drag the screen being fast enough is not a solution to this, because I am used to scrolling by moving the mouse near the edge, and want to do it this way.  Also tried the WASD movement, it was also unbearably slow.

The speed should speed up the closer your mouse gets to the edge of the screen.  So if youre a couple inches away from the edge, it moves about the current rate (slow), but if you push it to the edge it moves very fast.

yeah way too slow, and it's true even when you don't zoom out entirely, it should be adjustable in the option.

Agreed. Or maybe just adding a minimap, it is still very hard to properly navigate the map even with click and drag.

Still far too slow in the latest beta. Should be a slider in the options. 

Wondering how this has been this way through the entirety of testing? How could anyone bear this for this long I mean! ?

100% agree with this. One of the first things I did when I started to play the game was go through the options to find a scroll speed setting as I pan around using keys rather than mouse dragging. Was disappointed to see that there was not an option to increase it.

So sad it is still a problem in the current closed beta.

When zooming out, my goal is to have an overview and quickly move around the world map.

No idea why the camera speed (when controlled by the mouse AND/OR by keyboard) is so slow. Yes you can click and drag but I would love to at least being able to change the zoomed out camera speed in the settings.

...and still not fixed in the released game. =/

I assumed they would fix this on release with it being pretty much unusable... Crazy it hasn't been adjusted
