  • Summary / Title: Occupied city of enemy's former vassal in status quo (It stays occupied, while at peace with the owner)
  • Description: I started a war with Babylonians. At that time they had a vassal - Goths, so automatically I was at war with both of them. Then one turn, I took over Nesa - Goths' city. After that I got a notification that vassalage between Babylonians and Goths has been broken and suddenly I was at peace with Goths while still occupying a city of Nesa (see screenshots). Now I am unable to fully conquer this city. (I guess if I started another war with Goths, I could negotiate surrender, but I haven't tried it yet)
  • Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start a war with a civilization that has a vassal. 2. Take over a city that belongs to enemy's vassal.
  • Reproducibility: 5/5 (First time I found myself suddenly at peace the same turn, second time when I reloaded a game and repeated the steps I was still at war with Goths, but the next turn I was again suddenly at peace with them and couldn't do anything with the city)
  • Expected Behavior: Debatable - I guess we could stay at war with enemy's former vassal or the vassal should offer surrender.
  • Notes: Another side effect of this sudden peace - after it happened I was able to cross Goths borders without any treaty.
  • Attachments: Save before taking over the city, Save after taking the city, Diagnostics file from around that time, few screenshots.

I wanted to make a post about this, as I had a similar situation. I declared war on an AI (orange), was besieging two of his cities simultaneously. During the siege he signed on as a vassal to another AI (who barely even attacked him during the war) that was my ally. I was forced into peace while I was still besieging both cities.

I ended up taking control of both cities the next turn, but couldn't produce or do anything with them until they eventually just turned back into (orange) cities.

There's a few broken interactions with combination of vassals, alliances and peace treaties.
