i had a previous version of unity on my main system. from past experience, i knew it may conflict with a new one so i performed a deep uninstall, removing as many unity related windows registry keys as i could find and deleting all stray files i found

but the mod tools still won't recognize my new 2020.3.7f1 installation

now i see that the "internal" mode is still applied on the new editor. i had this setting on the previous set up but never activated it on the new one. so clearly, i missed something on the registry clean up

can anyone point me where to look for messy remains that might be affecting the mod tools installer?
