If you have encountered a bug, please follow the troubleshooting steps first. If the bug persists, check the list below before reporting it. If the problem already appears in the list, you do not need to take any further action; otherwise please file a report according to the How To Report Bugs guidelines.

Bug specific to a platform or storefront will be marked with a tag at the beginning of the line, as will bugs specicific to the Together We Rule (TWR) expansion. Bugs reported by the community will also be tagged (thank you for the effort taken for these reports!)



Initial Troubleshooting

If you encounter any bugs, please first confirm the following:

  1. Verify the integrity of the game files.
    • On Steam, you can use the “Verify Integrity of the Game Files” button on the Local Files tab of the game’s properties
    • On Epic Games Launcher, you can use the “Verify” option in the menu of the game (click the three dots next to its name).
    • On Microsoft Store, go to the “Apps & Features” menu of Windows, find Humankind, open the Advanced Options, and use the Repair option.
  2. Make sure that your graphics card drivers are up to date.
  3. Check if your anti-virus may be interfering with the game. Try creating an exception (also known as whitelisting in some anti-virus programs) for Humankind.



Known Major Issues

  • Rarely a Pending turn issue can occur after quick loading a save
  • Sometimes the game performance can drop because it uses too much of the graphic card power
    > Activating vsynch or lower the FPS limit should be workarounds
  • The name of Independent People's City or Outpost is a debug text in the City Panel and the Patronage tab

•    Blocking issues can occur after Spies get killed in during a battle

•    Rarely Challenges progress reset

•    Ransacking Satelites's and Space Exploration's Shared projects doesn't cancel the construction

•    Allies' and Vassals' units can be ambushed

•    Independent people can be assimilated while their city is sieged

•    Zone of control is not deactivated for Independent People under Client State treaty

•    Loading a save file made after triggering the End Screen, disables the “Continue Game” button

•    The user can build "Cothon" or "Bandari" harbors on sea ice tiles

•    The "Artistic Expression" Civic choices do not work

•    Rarely Independent Peoples get stuck in Decline state

•    The Civic choice "Globalization" doesn't allow to trade while being at Peace with no Trade treaties

•    Taking back a Vassal after it tried to get freedom isn't free

•    Rarely achievements/trophies can reset after relaunching the game on EGS

•    Roads are created before the player has the technology

•    When at war with a vassalized Empires, the Agreements are still available in teh Embassy

•    The Metternich Update is not visible in game's content menu

•    A client-state territory is not considered friendly territory

•    Clien State Independent People do not lose the Empire colour if they are attacked

•    "International Trade" Civic does not unlock if there is Eliminated Empire that has not been met beforehand

•    Vassal resources are available to buy through a Merchant Empire

•    The money percentage bonuses on trade routes do not work correctly

•    Client State Independent People loses the Empire's colour when reloading the save

•    The Cultural Wonder 'Great Zimbabwe' is missing in EGS

•    The checkboxes are missing in the Shared Project's construction window

•    "War slaves" in the Civic "Slaves" doesn't provide influence on garrisons

•    Natural Wonder's Science gain is lost when moving from Neolithic to Era I

•    Competitive deeds "Smorgasbord" can't be unlocked

•    Competitive deeds "A cultured land" can't be unlocked

•    Competitive deeds "Ptolemy" can't be unlocked

•    Competitive deeds "No stones unturned" can't be unlocked

•    Wondrous effect obtained by Hanging Gardens can be stolen

•    Units involved in a fight but not used as reinforcement lose their movement points after the fight

•    The resource prediction is not displayed properly on the river tiles while having "virtuous as water" tenet

•    District placement tooltip does not fully list the bonuses gained or lost when replacing another district

•    The da Vinci Event player icon is not displayed properly in the tooltips

•    AI Strength "Exhibitionist" doesn't work as design

•    The Independent Peoples' units are not healed up when they stand on their ground territory

•    Influence given by Cultural Blitz doesn't take into account neighbours Empires

•    Naval and ground units with 6 movement points can move an extra tile

•    The highest planes' air strike range is applied to the whole squadron

•    Sometime transportation mode choice reset to Naval transport when selecting Land transport

•    Liberty Ideology bonus is not applied to emblematic districts built in outposts

•    [MacOS] The Natural Wonder "Lake Natron" is not visible

•    [MacOS] Battle terrain rendering is corrupted when starting a battle on macOS Big Sur with Apple M1 Chip


Other Minor Known Issues

•    The international sway gain is shown in the "client state" tooltip even without having Together We Rule

•    Loading a Multiplayer save while ingame creates an invisible and unjoinable lobby

•    AI is often creating too many Prowlers

•    [FQA] Cloud saving does not work properly on EGS

•    Independent people's territory remains under influence after they de-spawn

•    Nuclear warfare and tests do not generate pollution

•    Exhibition Hall doesn't provide the correct amout of Science

•    The "Locate the event" from the notification tab for a "Demand received" does not lead to the specific City

•    "Chihuahuan Sterile Terrain" desert spawns on tiles with winter climate

•    Colonial office (british emblematic quarter) is not removed from the district list when there aren't any more available territories for building it

•    Narrative event "Child Savior" can be triggered before a city is constructed

•    Placeholder text is displayed on Power Investor's tooltip when used on Independent People's exploited deposits

•    Incorrect text is displayed in Power Investor's tooltip when used on Independent People's unexploited deposit

•    Incorrect Patronage gain is displayed in the Envoy's status tooltip

•    Outposts can evolve into a City when playing as the Singaporeans

•    Communal Housing doesn't gain Influence when building a Commons Quarter in an adjacent tile

•    Rebel Cities and Outpost do not lose Lifespan

•    War support gain is displayed when ransacking a Redoubt

•    "Defense Agency" bonus to Combat Strength is not applied

•    "Strip Mining Complex" EQ can be constructed in Outposts

•    Misleading Industry quantity in Placement Details preview for Baray Emblematic District

•    One of the effects from the "Economic Elephant" legacy trait is not working

•    Only one unit is selected when gaining un Unit in a Nomadic Army

•    When Rebels from you Empire have a City and you click on it, the Patronage tab for Bribe/Praise is visible, even though the "Establish Contact" Treaty is not signed

•    Ocean still generates after setting "Land Percentage" world setting to 100%
