After choosing to start any game, with any settings, the game crashes shortly afterwards.

I have tried...

* updating video card drivers to 2 different stable releases

* deleting the humankind folder from my documents

* changing all video settings to lowest possible and disabling sound

* verifying game install

And still no dice. The appcrash from windows points fingers at an access violation in amdvlk64.dll.
