Xbox on Windows - Game not updating

Anyone having similar problem?

Auto updates enabled but nothing seems to happen. Clicking the update button does nothing.

Is there a way to 'force' the update?

While I like game pass, man using the MS Store is like having the Cravers use you as an apperitif before dinner

The best way to force updates is

* click the start button

* Type in "Microsoft store"

* Clikc the ... in the upper right

* click "Download and updates"

* click "Get updates"

And pray to Bill Gates that this works because if it doesn't we are both in for a world of "wtf is going on" .

Alternatively you can repair the app

* Click start

* type in "Humankind"

* it should show up on the right side

* click "App settings"

* scroll down
* click "Repair"

Many thanks for the answer, the funny thing is - both, the installed and update show the same version number.

Does anyone know if there is/was an actual update to the game published via Game Pass?

Has anyone managed to update it? Is there a change log available somewhere?

Had to create an account just to rage a little at this. It's pretty ridiculous that the Microsoft Store can't find the update for this. I have to delete an reinstall 30GB every time the devs release an update? Come on guys, please fix this!

It is the only game in the entire Gamepass library that has this problem. The update works on all games except Humankind and the error is not Devs.

Again Amplitdue does not control

1) The Xbox app

2) the MS Store

You're free to go scream at MS about that. You'll likely find some cryptic error code in the event viewer as to why the MS Store isnt downloading and installing the patch. And you'll try to google it and find basically a bunch of other people with the same code goign "why is this broken"

Killer Instinct released on game pass on Jul 26, it was immediately absolutely totally broken. It wasn't fixed until Sept 26th! Rare is owned by Microsoft. And even they couldn't fix it. No like priority queue for their own 1st party studio where a major title was broken, on their highly touted subscription program. It was broken for months. Let that sink in.

If you think the xbox app doesnt have issues with updates, you're free to peruse the xbox game pass subreddit which as a cornucopia of issues with updates, downloads that are as cryptic and almost impossible to figure out why the MS store is doing whatever it is its doing. Use the MS Store Feedback hub and tell them its busted.

The MS Store only shows the existing installation's version and when that specific version was installed. So functionally when an update happens it doesnt tell you what version you are going to, it tells you what your existing version is and when it was installed.

Post install it will update the version and install date

Ok, I found the answer!

Install the "Xbox" app from the Windows Store and launch it. Then go back to "Downloads and Updates" in the MS Store and "Get Updates" and the update will appear.

Is there a release delay between MS Store and Steam ?

I've already updated to *253 my dude with MS Store version is still on *139 version.

The tipps mentioned above didn't do the trick.

The xbox game pass and steam versions are both up to date

You may need to manually update the game from the MS Store because well the MS Store basically is jank and the xbox app uses a very weird way of 'integrating' between it and teh ms store that is literally worse than duct tape and bubble gum
