How To Recreate The Behavior: Enter the diplomacy screen with another player (AI in my case)

Behavior Seen: The map ends up in a gray, featureless mode that I can't get out of.

Expected Behavior: Map has all of the iconography and labels of the original map. (Excuse me if I'm not using the right terminology.)

Have you tried zooming in the map?
If the issue persists I'd suggest checking out the this thread otherwise devs will have a hard time helping you.
