"Access Denied" Multiplayer screen then game shut's down

I'm trying to play with my brother, we were just playing last night with no problems. I'm on game pass and he is on steam. "Access Denied" Multiplayer screen then game shut's down. I thought it was a server issue, but he can join other multiplayer games. Anyone else having this issue with the game pass or is it just me? Thank you.

A friend and I have the same issue. We both have game pass and we were both playing last night without any problems. We don't find any solution, he even uninstalled and reinstalled it and it doesn't change anything.

The new update it's a lot of fun, we are just waiting to continue our game with the latin cultures. So it does look like it's a game pass problem, hopefully this gets some attention.

Having the same issue. We got the Game Pass with a friend and can't do multiplayer. When we open the Multiplayer screen, we get the message "Access Denied" and if we try to create a game or click refresh, the client crashes. I have my G2G account linked, they do not; my Xbox account is new (literally from yesterday) while theirs is a bit older. We both have the same issue.


Not sure if I'm glad or not to see we're not alone... So if it's a Game Pass thing we'll have to wait for a fix then, wherever it comes from.

Same as the other folks here, I have tried everything from deleting the save data to reinstalling the game and I'm still stuck at the "Access Denied" popup on multiplayer and crashing if I do anything but back out of the menu.

Same problem here. My friend got the exact same issue and we both are one gamepass (he got africa dlc and I got both in case it matters)

Still nothing on this? I'd have thought we'd at least have some acknowledgement of the issue at this point kinda sucks to be sitting here waiting to play with friends and just not being able to

I created an account just to report this issue. I'm also on game pass, and the game crashes whenever i try to go online. I have tried everything method including verifying, repairing, resetting, deleting save files, upgrading drivers, upgrading windows, uninstalling and reinstalling twice, moving it between drives. Nothing works.

Looks like we won't have that game-breaking bug acknowledged before the start of next week. Fun. 

Please next time you do a release do it early in the week if your Q&A is trash. (And as someone in the software industry, why would you ever want to do a production deployment before  weekend if you don't want to risk overtime).

My second post on this thread and I just wanted to say...The fact that this has been down since yesterday and no word is kinda crazy to me. Even did some tweets and nothing but they post about the update coming to Germany or something ish. On top of that, looks like they have no one operating the forums either...sheshhh. Sadly (or good in case you're a dev at Amplitude) usually anybody works at Amplitude on weekends.

Between this and the AI intentionally being a lot more aggressive towards gamepass players as a "bug" that was fixed earlier in the year  I'm beginning to wonder if the Devs negligence when it comes to these issues is intentional. They sure fixed the other bugs for the steam players and of the players who purchased the dlc's quickly, but the gamepass players that have this issue are stuck waiting for monday for the devs to even bother acknowledging there is an issue let alone a fix for it.

God damn, yeah, no changes to prod servers on Friday unless you plan to work through the weekend, common sense.

Maybe it has to do with Xbox. They are currently having problems with their servers so Amplitude is probably not the one to blame !

Same here, cannot get rid of this and after a while in the menus the game is crashing... it used to be working perfectly well before.

tried to update windows, drivers, and the XBox Get-AppXPackage as well without any success.


I am using gamepass for my family access and bought myself a copy on Epic that i m using and that is working. Whereas gamepass does not allow us to play at all now, we played in the past quite a lot without any noticeable issue.

It's still their problem friend, if it's affecting their game it's inherently still their issue. 

But that aside personally I'm not bothered that there isn't a fix yet, I'm bothered that there is no communication for this issue it's just aggravating to feel like the company doesn't hear you screaming into the void.

 I have the same problem also on game pass, in the Multi-player screen it says “Access Denied” and if I try to enter multiple times game crashes, but before it crashed once I manage to enter to friends lobby number to direct connect and it said lobby is no longer open and tried multiple times to open a game lobby but it said there issue with my internet connection ( there is not) but once it opened the lobby but then game froze and crashed,

My friend has the game in Steam and it works fine there so I also think there is issue with Xbox’s end hope it’s fixed soon or at least we could informed about problem.

Firstly, thank you all for the report. We're investigating what is causing this issue. Hopefully we can deliver a fix soon.

Secondly, we're sorry for the late reply. As Groo pointed out, the majority of Amplitude staff get the weekend off, which unfortunately means that we are not always able to reply quickly if issues are reported late in the week, but that does not mean these reports are going unseen.

Any news on when we can expect multiplayer to be accessible? I can't speak for others but I mostly play online with friends who have the product elsewhere and it's blown having to sit on the sidelines for the last few days and watch them play.

Most viewed open issue on bug reports.

Most replied to open post on bug reports.

Paints a picture of this being a much wider spread problem.


It's now been 5 days and it's still not fixed, That's all. I will see you all again tomorrow.
