HUMANKIND NEVER-ENDING TURN FINALLY “FIXED”

YO. This is my very first post here, and, I’m just posting it, because it seems that this problem affects half of humankind players, and surprisingly, nobody could sort it out. 

I have tried most of the “fixes” to this bug and nothing helped, but as I was trying to create a new save at the never-ending turn, (f5-f9 and manually) I realize that it was not possible, so here is what I did:

- Close the game;

- Cut every saved game file to another folder and leave just the ones you are about to “fix” (documents/humankind/save files);

- Start the game, load your last game (auto or manually created) and as soon u enter the game, try to save it. For me, it didn’t work with the last one (had to pick the next-to-last);

- This time I was able to create a new save file AND, to my surprise, ta-da! It just fixed the never ending turn. I didn’t even had to load it again… It passed 10 turns in a row.

Tried with an older saved (turn 394) AND it worked 2!!! =D (DAMN that felt good!)

Reading a lot of answers (A LOT) I don’t recall to see anywhere, ppl saying to try this, so, if it worked for me, maybe it could work 4 you too.

I have this kind of error often. For the most part, I can fix it by saving and reloading. However, in a recent game, nothing was working, including loading a save from 1 or 2 turns earlier, restarting the game and my computer, etc. But MadRod's fix above *did* work. So: thanks, MadRod! And to anyone else with this issue: give his fix a try.

Hi, I haven't seen the game hang in many months but I'm seeing it now.  The diagnostic file has many repetitions of an error "Unknown enum 'DiplomaticStateType' value. (value=VassalToExternal)".  I can continue the game if I don't vassalise the civ I can force to surrender, or if I don't force the surrender.  It's maybe an untested corner case, in which the defeated civ has just one city and I have enough victory points to force it to give me the city as well as to vassalise it.  I tried vassalising *and* taking the city, then giving the city back... but the game still hangs when I try to end the turn on which I force the surrender.  Curiously: the savefile is created before the game hangs, causing the autosave counter to increment... so every hung game "eats up" another slot in the 10-slot autosave pool.  Fortunately I had a manual savefile so I don't have mess around with the confusingly-numbered autosaves.

I have worked-around the game-hang defect by *not* vassalising the conquered civ. For example: I can force the surrender, take the conquered city, then give the city back to the recently-conquered civ. (It's a weakling so I can easily reconquer someday.) I am left to wonder if I'll ever be able to vassalise a civ in my current game, or for that matter in my current installation of Humankind! (I haven't verified the installation, and I see many warnings in the diagnostics.)
