Anyone else getting a glitch where the independent peoples lifespan remains on 1 and never goes to 0? Thanks in advance :)

Hey there, if you start making some treaties (and same for the AI), it will increase it's lifespan, and stop it when it becomes a client state.

If it's not the case, it's indeed a bug, and we will investigate that issue

In this savegame, the "Chimu" people of "Chan Chan" has 9 lifespan turns left indefinitely :

Argentins Tour 217 - peuple de Chan Chan coince.ctr

I tried loading game before the counter reached 9, advancing turns again to that point. It did not get stuck again.
