So Amplitude creates a contest that im pretty sure a major part if not most of the community cant even compete in because they don't live in a certain country, and for some reason if your European, you have to be 18 years old while people from places like the US and Canada can enter as young as 13, feels like a very odd and almost biased restriction. As much as I am a fan of Amplitude and their games, this is a bad PR move for sure.

Norway not eligeble either? D:

they aren't the only European country not included as well, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Albania, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Switzerland, Iceland, and Russia are not included as well, meaning, you can still be in Europe and not be allowed to enter.

Yeah, this gives very bad taste. Could've just make a raffle with simple sign-up in selected countries, but they went with PR contest route with many people gated and rightfully frustrated about it.

those people being frustrated is a bit of a understatement, imagine someone being a loyal fan, bought and played most if not all of their games, spent money on dlc, participated in votes that determined certain parts of said games and dlc's, only to find out they cant join events simply because they dont live in the 29 out of 190 nations that were allowed in the contest. Especially with a game thats suppose to be about all of the human species

Maybe the team did their best to cover as many countries as they possibly can in this pandemic since worldwide shipping is being restricted,

If that is correct, then this is a bad time to announce this event, creating unnecessary drama in such an early stage of the game

If not, very bad move by them, making 85% of the world illegitimate for the prize

I doubt shipping is the reason, otherwise they should not make a distinction between European countries as at least within Europe you can just walk to a normal post office and say which country it should be sent to.

I also find the particular set of limitations difficult to understand, but I am sure amplitude is hurting by limiting the range of contestants aswell.

If you really believe that you have cooked up a masterpiece map at your home outside the chosen few, you can always enter via proxy and sort out the shipping yourself afterwards, just don't get swindled.
Happy rest of summer! ^_^
