Well, sometimes it can take quite a while depending on galaxy generation. If I recall correctly, the last time I hosted such multiplayer event, I never gained access to any titanium, despite controlling nearly 1/5th of the galaxy. As such, I was forced to strike a bargain with other player who had access to said resource. Without diplomacy, there's almost no way for you to gain access to all modules which is what I like the most about low resource setting.

It also puts an even bigger emphasis on scouting - you need to find as many players as soon as possible to find potential trading partners (or systems to conquer

)

It's a shame that in the end we were all defeated by bugs but, just like other people who posted here, I have to admit I still had a lot of fun. Even though I didn't do much for most of the game, it was still fun owning gameslayer on the second week ;P

I'll probably host more events in the future, maybe on a bit smaller galaxies to speed things up a little. Though I can't say if I'll be recording these or not - talking for 6+ hours has devastating effects on my throat and while I like recording videos, it's sometimes more fun to just take my time and chat with other players ^_^

Hello, I would like to be the first to say that even though the game bugged out and had no conclusion that a good time was had by all. so good game, jin, adder, madcow, panczasu, ripper, adventurer, gameslayer, and anasas.

Thanks again for the game. I learned a lot from that game, and hopefully, if we do start a new game, I'll be better prepared. I have a feeling you were going to win that game. A whole game with no one declaring war on you means you didn't waste production time on ships that would inevitably die. You were doing a good job of staying under the radar, and I was waiting for you to win out of nowhere. GG.

Hey everybody! I'm having second thoughts on the galaxy shape after discussing it with my friend.

How about we change it to twin elliptical? It should be fun, quite hilarious and certainly a lot more interesting then spiral with 8 arms!

That's not what I said in my original video, so without your approval I won't change the galaxy shape. But I think twin elliptical would be cool!

Ok, we've checked it several times. And we always had strategic resources on our home planet or on the systems right next to it. I think we can confirm that there is no bug. They were a bit sparse, of course, but every player still had access to at least a few of them.

EDIT: All slots are filled! You can still sign up as a back-up player though!

I hope you won't mind, but I think that if we get a full-ish game, we need to have at least medium resources...it would really be game breaking to be cut off of resources because of a dependency on another player(s). War\blockade\invasions and whammo! Kiss off on that hull\module\improvement.

We can still get cut off when our own systems get whatever, but at least we wouldn't be victims of someone's misfortune.

I like the extra emphasis on diplomacy when people don't have access to strategic resources. Sure, it didn't mean much for the super empire I ended up with last time, but I like the idea that you don't kill off weaker players because they have a resource you need, and in order to take their planet you have to spend 15-20 turns without that resource killing them off, along with the risk of being unable to defend yourself without these resources if your ganged up on by a rival. In those situations, it can still be fun and compettive even when your empire is really small and weak. This helps prevent steamrolls occuring, at least until people have enough siege to take a planet in 4 turns no matter what.

Sorry for the shameless promotion but I'm hosting a small multiplayer event in ES this Saturday and I would be very happy if you could join me!

I will be recording this whole event and upload it later to youtube. Part of it will be live commentary, and the other part will have commentary added in the editing. I can't say how long I'll be able to survive while constantly talking about the game so I can't say yet, what the proportion of these two parts will be.

This event will start at 8:30pm CET on the 15th of February!

I'll check it with a friend on different settings and with/without mineral memory. I'll let you know what we find (not sooner then tomorrow though)

I understand the motivation for low resources, I was trying to see if anyone else could test your settings since I didn't see any start resources. None. Zip. Nada. I should have seen 1 of something after unlocking the first three strat resources. Something is def not right.
