Ghost fleets are a graphical bug. Often when you defeat an enemy fleet during your turn, the graphical display of their fleet at your system stays there.

we think the huge number of AI fleets is fixed too. The number of times you are unable to choose auto/manual should have drastically decreased (should be null, in fact)

The huge number of AI fleets does not seem to be fixed. Or if so, then only on new games. Can someone confirm that?

Somewhere in the middle of my war I got update to Alpha 2. After 20 turns or so my opponent has two small systems with 3 tiny ugly planets. When I invaded one of them the next turn huge number of fleets appeared (12 x 9) and smashed me out of the sky. Upon returning to previous turn I find myself already fighting with enemy (ghost fleet?). Is there any other solution than fighting this swarm (like some nice console command to kill X)? And if I win, any guarantee that the situation will not repeat itself? I don't see any chance for enemy to produce / buy that kind of army.

Prior comment about tonnage after further testing appears in error - comment removed to prevent confusion

They probably will be release for the beta (because a beta should be feature complete). So as long as they speak of "alpha x" I wouldn't expect new race.

Just for an alpha im pretty happy with it, and with these new fixes, the whole listen to players and have them vote what made me buy this game. No regrets

That might be related to Steamworks, to keep all all game versions in sync for multiplayer. I've been able to turn off auto-update for things like Total War series games, where I didn't want an update to break mods I was using. But that didn't use Steamworks (at least not at that time).

Edit to add:

Thinking more about this, there does need to be an option to disable updates at some point, for those who don't play multiplayer at all (like me), and who dont' want big, long-running games broken by an update. I'm expecting frequent updates at this stage, so every campaign is "provisional" and I don't care that much if I re-start. But I can see this being very annoying later on, after release, when the game is more polished and updates are just minor fixes.

Well that's less exciting than I thought. I like my version better. Ghost ships sailing through the galaxy.

if you started this game in alpha 1 then the problem is probably still there. if that game started with alpha 2 then we would gladly look at one of your savegames.

I don't know what Ghost Fleets are... but I like 'em! I get this mental image of sci-fi equivalents of The Flying Dutchman and such.

yeah the huge downside to alpha and beta testing. Specially infuriating on rpg games, where you start a character over... and over ... and over.

You should never count on save game compatibility this early in a release. But, I understand you "can" turn off auto-update in steam. Not sure if it will help, and not good as a long term solution.

i have 21 hours in with this game, and by looking those patch notes i can say that number will skyrocket as soon as the patch is out. Like the guard command and victory condition fix... cant wait smiley: smile

Crappiest thing about this is I can't bring myself to start a new game knowing the Alpha 2 is coming.

I wanted to play my 100 turnish save game today, but knowing the next version would be out soon...I had to do the same thing you did. (*sob*)

Lovely. Looking forward to this now that I can play the game slightly above newbie status.

Sick about no pause on battle or the removal of the daft timer altogether. smiley: frown

Found it ~ this is a alpha2 game. Not just the Hssh, either, sadly.
