To the devs: Yay girls, but need more

A small personal thank you to the devs for heroes like Unji Stormbringer, and the current heroes on vote Aurora Ex Machina and Galdos Al. I'm a girl gamer and frankly, we get shafted alot. In Diablo-types (before D3 and T2) we were always stuck being the rogue or the wizard. Many 4X games seem to forget girls exist entirely. I am glad to see a diverse range of female heroes, from badass warriors to mad scientists. PLease keep this up, you have no idea how happy it makes a girl gamer to have her gender recognized.

Though as a further personal request, a canon girl faction leader would be nice, and I BEG of you to include at least one female human picture for the custom factions. I think A LOT of players would appreciate even this small touch. Though don't think I didn't notice that the Sophon High Council (as I call them) has a female member on the left! Thanks for that too! Empress or Shoguness or something would be cool too is all I'm saying.

Thanks for your time, and all the heart you put into this game and community. It shows, and we love you for it smiley: ohh <3

Female Sowers are planned. They will be indistinguishable from the male ones on the outside but on the inside the central processor of the male Sowers has pins on it, whereas in the female Sowers there are pins on the slot the CPU is plugged into.

Lara Croft, Sarah Conners from the Terminator series, Black Widow from Avengers, Buffy Summers from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Ellen Ripley from the Aliens series, Zoe from Firefly

A couple of these are good. Ripley, Sarah Conner. But uh, not alot of girls view Indiana Boobs as an ideal role model. Nor Black Widow, who apparently has the power of being a manipulative female. However, we're off base. I'm more pointing out that games of this type often omit girls entirely. Amplitude did not. This is FANTASTIC.

Raptor: ... Seriously? Well that's kind of cool, if a bit confusing. But... yay girl-bots! Thanks for the info.

Indeed. smiley: smile Also there will be some defective Sowers with unknown gender, these are produced with half the pins on the CPU and the other half on the slot.

HAH! Transgender robots. Wonderful. ES is now best sci-fi setting.

i would say hermaphrodites since they have both female ports and male pins.

I concur! I was heartily (and happily) surprised when I started reading the bio of one of my first prospective heroes -- only to find "she", "her" embedded in the text. It was rare enough to come across that I was seriously pleased by it. A little effort goes a long way.

Well if you want to get really technical they'd be 'intersex' in the vernacular. But I don't think we can apply these things here. They way they determine gender could be concrete and unmoving unlike the fluidity of human gender. But I'm getting into totally wild speculation about complex social issues on a race that doesn't exist and we know next to nothing about on top.

Gendered Sowers means more girl heroes and this is a good thing, even if I will be up late tonight pondering the possible existential crisis of gender suffered by members of a robotic race of terraformers that doesn't exist.

Damn your lore. It drives me to philosophize.

i just like them due to being the foil of the cravers. But it would be highly amusing if they did play like them in a way that they forcefully terraform planets and cant be at peace with other societies. They could probably end up as a terraforming project gone awry. Hopefully that's not the case. Their art design is sound and nice a bit different from what i have seen but its refreshing that there not humanshaped robots.

Uhhh according to the available lore, they pretty much ARE a teraforming project gone awry.

The Sowers should just have external male or female ports. But, if that was done, then what is the male-to-female converter jack? Such nuances in this robot's society. My custom race will have a Sower Sex-Ed to clarify and settle all these matters.

...

*cough*

Anyway, I would agree with you if it wasn't named something like Galdos AI...pretty clear where that's from. Also, if wasn't competing against mine. Other than that, yeah. Female characters in games are done wrong too often. You should watch the episode of Extra Credits that talks about this.
