Why is everyone so worked up about the T70? If you're playing the game right, you won't even need the resource. You tech past the first tier missiles within the first 30 turns. There is no reason to use them. You probably aren't even fighting at that point.

I thought it was also required for Battleships? Or was it cruisers?

I reseached it, and found it on two systems close to were I started the game.

I have one game that I don't have any in my area. While I don't mind needing some exotic material for higher tier stuff. I would consider cruiser to be a lower tier ship so not being able to build them is a bit of a pain.

You could have gone straight to Battleships. Same CP - though the bonuses to modules are a bit different smiley: smile

Personally, I think that it should be possible to produce objects without actually requiring Titanium-70 and other rare materials, but doing so also costs a premium to compensate. The design screen could say "This component requires T-70 and Ultima, which is out of stock. Each component costs 300% more." This would make having an secure supply of materials very useful, but it would maintain player freedom in how they can approach situations.

The situation I guess isn't meant to be secure. You need to fight or deal for the rescources at hand. And also the research for the rescources is cool.

In most maps I've seen so far, it is not very distant from the original faction home planet. But no guarantee how much you will find...I've seen maps where the AI side of the galaxy had lots of cool systems, more so than my side. But it is not consistent so I'm not yet calling it a bug.

And let's not forget Hyperium for the early beam weapon too.

I think that's why the pirates have guns instead of beams or missiles.

You can also use this info as a form of enemy intel. If you scout your opponant around turn 50 and he's still using Guns, then there's a good chance he doesn't have Titanium-70, and so he won't be fielding Cruisers any time soon.

I am finding plutonium-70 on 1 in every 5ish planets after research the correct skill. As far as I can tell it is only appearing on systems that are either uncolonised or perhaps unvisited (I cannot quite work out which - I was looking last game but got carried away with some rapid expansion and then forgot to take note.

It may be that some games you get unlucky but as far as I can tell it isnt extremely rare.

[EDIT] Just loaded up game on my laptop (to a save before Titanium and researched it). I got a pop up telling me that Titanium-70 was found at 3 of my 8 systems - doesnt seem so rare atm.

check, the tech you need to research is in the right handed thread, don't remember the name, but it is the 3rd or 4th (just look at the bottom MOST tech tree path, i think anyway). I also have NEVER had a game where titanium-70 never showed up. However i had one where it didn't show up till late, but that turned out to not be a big deal.

I've had games with titanium-70 in my first colonized system and i had games where i couldnt find it until after 100 turns...

Generally i think its a good thing ressources are randomized like this, if the enemy has only 1 deposit of the ressource he needs to pop out that big guns, you can blockade his system and cut off his supply...

Just one ship and some early weapons tech. I agree it isn't needed later, and btw battle ships suck lol.

Yeah, I've had a couple of playthroughs without having T-70 for most of the game. It's not that big a deal, and even if you want better weapons, just be nice at first until your tech is good enough to not really need it.

Making it so rare makes it too easy for a single player to dominate the others with missiles. smiley: frown

I haven't experienced this. I've look at a bunch of savegames and while titanium-70 is scarce, it was present.

Even if I haven't colonized it, I've usually seen at least one T-70 in most of my playthroughs. I'll reiterate what everyone else said: other side of the galaxy, most likely. What size map are you playing?
