I haven't seen any of titanium-70 yet. Are you required to get the tech tree research to even see it on a planet, or does it appear like other elements but you can't use it?

So far, it has not been difficult to find in any of my numerous games. What level are you playing at?

Hi,

I've played several rounds of the game and I'm enjoying it so far, however I've not seen a single supply of Titanium-70 in the entire game. Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks.

The tech is Core Mining, tier 2. Once I have this tech and I have explored my local neighborhood, I also quit the game if there is none to be found. Other people will keep on, specializing in lasers which do not require the resource. YMMV.

Titanium is a purple resource, so I think they are visible even without researching it. But you can't use it until it's researched.

I've had a game where there was no Titanium within reach. It was turn 50 or so when I finally found a planet with some Titanium.

I had to decide whether to skip early missiles and go for something else, or to invest heavily to get the next tier missile which doesn't need Titanium. And no cruisers! I was flying a fleet of many destroyers instead. The Angry Hornets, we called ourselves, back in those days...

It is not visible until you research Core Mining. That is the definition of the purple resources. You can try this by doing a lot of exploration without researching Core Mining; then researching it. You will probably get a popup which tells you that the resource has been revealed in one or more of your systems.

The problem is that you can see luxury bonuses (even without having the good technology) but you can't see ressources.

I don't think that is a problem. There are both types: visible and initially-invisible. To me, having initially-invisible items is very important; it adds to the tension of a starting position.

Why is everyone so worked up about the T70? If you're playing the game right, you won't even need the resource. You tech past the first tier missiles within the first 30 turns. There is no reason to use them. You probably aren't even fighting at that point.

There's a balancing issue at the moment in the galaxy generation. Devs are aware and working on that.

I always played normal settings and slow speed. I always get Tit-90. Maybe it depends on galaxy format/old, even with race. Never had a game, in +10, where i didn't have the tit-10

There are pages and pages of posts about people wanting the tech tree to be randomized.

Well here it is, randomized technology. Sometimes you get it right away, and sometimes you don't.

Yep, this is it, right here. This is what randomized tech looks like. Decisions based on not having stuff exactly the same every game.

It's pretty sweet, isn't it?

I like the way it works now - Makes the titanium techs a bit of a "bet". Either you get lucky with it, or you're forced to skip ahead. A bit like Iron in Civilization.

yeah i thought that too. you should play CIV and play a game without bronze. in civ theres no other stuff you can build, you're not just missing out on 1 weapon, you miss out on axemen altogether.

I haven't had any problems getting titanium-70 regularly. One or two games I didn't have any in my systems but you learn to work around it.
