Pirates are already random and annoying enough IMO, but I would love to see more random natural events like stars going supernova or solar storms.

If there is little to none random events in the game after release I most likely will not be playing it until some mod implements them. The game looks and feels very dry/dull/lifeless as of now.

Part of it is attributed to lack of emotions being expressed during gameplay. No videos or any other portrayal of any character.

Interface and icon art are amazing, but that doesn't add "life" to the game.

As some other people said it depends how it is implemented, and it would even be better if it could be parametrized. But something I would like to add is that this shouldn't be something that gets decided here once and for all for every body. All these things are nice, you just should be able to enable/disable these as options when you start the game and their "intensity" could be dependent on the game difficulty level.
