I don't get it. People choose minor cosmetics instead of new gameplay features G2G.

Well, the new vote is all about skipping manual combat while being able to play cards and improving the AI. Does even the first count as a gameplay-mechanic? If yes, they've done just that, now. ^^

Neato.

What exactly is improving the alliance-mechanics though?

I'd like some more diplomatic depth, but i can't really find a

thread with the original suggestion.

That's probably because there were so many of them. Just take a look at the list in the oldest suggestion for more diplomacy options: /#/endless-space/forum/28-game-design/thread/12022-diplomatic-25-year-plans-agreements-loans-and-other-dip-enhancements

I'm not sure what the devs would pick out of this huge packet of possible extensions, though.

Democracy doing what it does best: showcasing that the majority of people often make terrible choices.

And for the love of whatever don't take this as a political argument-starter. I'm not even from the US.

Now, of course, this is a matter of opinion. But really, this game desperately needs some gameplay improvements, not new shiny-things. This much should be obvious.

Thankfully the current voting pitches gameplay improvement against gameplay improvement only, so it makes more sense.

That's exactly what the G2G votes are. The winner of each poll goes on the priority list for the next update, and the losers gets cycled back in to show up sometime in a later update.

Yeah? And who chooses the priority list for voting items? Because I for one would like a word with them. Bloody more factions - who needs them? We have enough to choose from already.

But when does battle cameras come up, or fleet AI, or invasion graphics, or espionage? Or are these all on the drawing board already? Who knows?

Quiet Frankly There needs to be more customisability. I say this is a moding problem... The point of g2g is expressidly cosmetics, Just like people have stated much earlier in this post. (and as for changing profile pictures actuly thus performs a massive role in such a moding context). Again, i have to point out that the devs will probably be adding all these features in anyway. (and, likely, if people don't like features the support in the moding dev that enables them to customisably turn them off.)

There is a list that shows all of the features the devs are tracking, and whether they are making them a priority to update, or have actually said they do not plan to implement in the game. I'm sure someone has the link here somewhere.

Don't think of people not voting for new planet razing mechanics "not voting for more mechanics" it may very well be "voting to exclude a specific mechanic the playerbase doesn't want."

I want a lot of things. People not able to raze planets is on the list of things I want.

Unfortunatly for you it seems that what has been proposed in the G2G vote will be soon or late added to the game.

That's always amazing.

On the other hand, no matter which custom faction will be chosen, it might include a new gameplay mechanic (if the devs take a heart and include the specified affinities), but there's 2.5 million points spent on the gameplay feature votes and only 2.2 million on the custom faction votes. 300k is about 273 people who have voted for only half the available two options of the vote. smiley: stickouttongue

I didn't vote for the custom faction affinity visuals either but I guess a lot of people like the custom factions and don't want to be stuck with a specific shipset when they pick an affinity. On the other G2G votes they said the other ones will be added later so I'm assuming the razing will probably be coming in eventually.

Well, I'd argue that separating faction affinity from visuals is a new gameplay mechanic. It gives players a lot more flexibility and creativity when creating their own faction to play as, which we currently don't really have. It'd not much, but should the affinities option win, people can make a war-like human empire (using the Sheredyn or UE visuals with, say, the Hissho affinity), or a peaceful Craver race (Amoeba affinity and Craver visuals) and so on and so forth.

It isn't like the game desperately needs any of these features up for vote, anyway. They're all just extra niceties, so people can vote for what they really want without worrying about holding the game back. And like dlcooper said, we're getting them all eventually anyway. smiley: wink

P.S.: I voted for the affinity seperation, for I may be biased.

The problem could also be in the organisation of the choices. Why cosmetic improvement and gameplay mechanics are in the same poll?

The idea of Finalstrigon could be a good explication but I am not convinced of that.

And for me, the G2G votes are now just a poll where you decide which 2 on 3 propositions will not be in the next patch but added in a ~very~ long time. (Yep, I see the glass half-empty).

I've got a problem with that. A glass cannot be half-empty, without being half-full, unless you counted emptyness as a filling, so a fully empty glass could be filled with two times half-empty loads. On the other hand, if emptyness had the quality of a filling, a glass being empty would be full of emptyness, therefore full, which is also contradictory.

So a half-full glass has always to be half-empty, too, there's no choosing one or the other, logically.

I so hope igncom reads this, now...

You would be very, very wrong then.

I've now basically given up on G2G ever accomplishing anything but getting bad fanfiction tacked onto my game and forever delaying fun gameplay options over the newest shiny useless visual nonsense to pop up.

I know this to be true as this is at the very least the third time this has happened. Twice in a row.

Amplitude should just finally get the hint and scrap G2G after seeing just how bad most G2G voters really are to this game actually being fun. Seeing bad grammar, shoehorned in references, and memes just makes me want to stop playing this game and the newest shiny object being picked over things that would actually be fun to have just constantly makes me not want to even start the game up at all anymore.
