Not as much of a problem removing it would create.

It would be cool, but it would also defeat the purpose of Command Points.

That could actually improve overall battle experience by ligthyears! Battles would no longer be limited to a stupidly low amount of ships. Without the fleet CP limit it would actually matter if you have the numbers on your side in a battle. So a player that focuses on production would be able to defeat a technically advanced enemy by outproducing him. Rigth now an advanced fleet can kill thousands of enemy fleets wihtout even takin a scratch because the enemy is forced to present every of his fleets as "bite-sized meal".

This would also improve the AI overall capability because the FIDS bonus would now be much more important in battle. As a result the silly FIDS bonus can be decreased.

Moreover you would be forced to decide if it is more efficient to form a giant single fleet or split your ships in order to be present at several places at the same time. All those important decisions are crippled by the stupid "fleet CP" approach.

The more i talk the more i think the "fleet CP limit" is a major problem...

LOL, promises from game developers rank right up there with promises from politicians.

Most of the boring aspect comes from two fleets sailing side by side and slowly closing range and suddenly... nothing.... like wtf where did they go???

I'm convinced your Amplitude website is different from mine. And logically, why would they end a vote only a few hours after they start it?

I did vote for auto battle, tho it lost. That aside i dont think your going to find to many people wanting to set threw a really long battle, at least not with this system. Heck in sword of the stars with real time fights 5 mins is still the average limit, tho it can be adjusted.

It would be nice if you could adjust the time for phases when setting up a game, in addition to the other settings. i.e. adding a multiplier for the length of battle phases.

I like to watch the fights as much as the next guy but, fighting 10 fights in a turn that take 10 mins to watch.... even in single player that would get tire some.

I do agree with a lot of what the op is saying though.

I would like battles to be either longer or less final so that fleets get to fight another turn or two without being detroyed so quickly. I would like there to be time for reinforcements to be sent in and less wizz, bang, finish. I like the battles and I like the way they are controlled but I wish there was a bit more time to appreciate them. Even dreadnoughts can be destroyed in a few seconds. Thats just wrong!

When you look at the old naval wars yes the occassional battleship could be blown up by a fluke (HMS Hood) but most battles went on for hours - fighting fires, quick repairs, etc brought damaged ships back into the fray. And losing sight of the enemy due to smoke/night etc made them tense affairs that dragged on and on. Not so the battles in Endless Space whicha re over with far too quickly.

I say for those who want to get battles over quickly use the autobattle, but for us who like watching the battles lets have more to watch.

Considering the devs of Endless Space are very active and how much they interact with their fanbase, comparing them to politicians is an insult to them. And starting your sentence with "LOL" doesn't make you seem like the most sophisticated chap.

And it's easy to explain if you think about the way animals in the wild fight. They circle each other, charge, fight, then back up and stare and circle each other some more before repeating until one of them flees (or dies). Think of it as the ships trailing apart to lick their wounds before rushing back towards each other.

It's also hard to explain why they would continue battling for more phases, or for longer phases, considering the game is turn-based. You could argue that there simply isn't enough time in a turn for the battle to go on much longer.

It is a prettier version of what MOO3 offered and MOO3 isn't not a comparison that is to ES's benefit.

Do not find them boring, find them very entertaining. Often close and cards make a big difference. I definitely would not like them to be longer though. They are just about the right length, maybe even a little long smiley: stickouttongue

No - I do not find them boring. If anything I find not having to control every little aspect of combat to be quite refreshing and far more realistic.
