Yep, +1 from me for that idea. And 5 stars for the thread.

...new update just a few hours ago? That sneaked up on me! Nice! smiley: biggrin In that case, I'd need to play around with it a bit more to say how good it is.

Agreed, I think this is something that would be included quite easily visually - most people are using wide-screens anyway - so just have a fold-out ship list on the left and right, in the usual translucent style Endless Space has. That leaves the action in the centre of the screen visible... and if you don't need the info, you could hide it to show the currently used stats.

An overview of the ships involved in the battle and some icons which modules are on these ships, that would be damn heck useful.... currently i dunno if my fleet that is engaged in battle has kinetic/beam/torpedoe ability, so modules overview of these ships would help ...

It would be nice to see what ships have taken what damage and such on some type of spreadsheet during battle.

I'm so nasty to followe Steph'nies example and just change the prefix.

And I need a smiley with a halo for such purposes!

This thread is the origin of discussions about changing the combat UI to view separate ships, not only one health bar for all.

Other threads about this have been archived:

Feel free to post here about this topic here and inform yourself about the variations the threads listed above have already discussed, but don't open new suggestion threads for anything alike. smiley: wink

Far as I can tell there is currently no way to actually tell what ships are remaining during combat other than if each type of ship is an entirely different hull classification and as such has a different model.

It would be extremely useful if it were possible to tell if one of my ships that just blew up was the only ship in the fleet that had a repair module present so as to not expect any beginning of phase minor repairs to be done.

Or to know that in the long distance phase I lost my short ranged kinetic ship designs, so I am better off at the short range phase playing a ability/tactic other than increasing kinetic damage output.

The same goes for enemy ships, in the pre-combat fleet line-up I can see what ships I am up against, however once combat begins I have no idea if the ship I just blew up was the enemies only missile barrage ship or similar.

Added to the Summary list here. If you have any further ideas or need to discuss this please use this thread

This is something that is definitely needed to know what the heck is going on in the carnage of the battle, and so I can play cards in the 2nd and 3rd stages accordingly to what ships I've lost (and the ships the enemy has lost).

Indeed, this would be my preferred method as well.

But it depends on how combat is currently done and damage applied.

If combat currently works by taking the damage output of one entire fleet and applies it randomly across the target fleet then does individual ship defence/resistance checks to see how much of that ships portion of the damage is applied then the information worth reporting can change.

Same with ship hp, if ships in combat don't have individual hp tracking but rather each ships hp figure is thrown into a total fleet hp pool which is deducted from as damage is applied and then the game removes the ships from the fleet starting with those with the lowest contributing hp at fleet hp % thresholds... then again what information is worth displaying differs.

Would be nice to know exactly how combat is calculated to see how much extra information in-combat to report would be helpful to players. smiley: biggrin

More feedback is definitly a must. Things like tallies of the damage done and effectivness of armour would also be apreciated. Right now the actual ships loss and damage done seems feels obtuse and while the battles look pretty there's very little visual feedback (especially when the camera focuses on the wrong side of the enemy fleet as mine is torn apart).

I second nosferatiels comment. I too would like to know what the hell is happening to my fleet and to individual ships in combat ...

Also more visual feedback overall about how the combat is going is to be desired.

not to mention i would like to tell them more what they should do ... but thats for another thread ...

I'd go even further, giving some interface space during combat to an icon for each ship (like in the fleet interface at galaxy level) with an HP-bar instead of an overall HP-bar, so you can actually see what the hell is happening.
