Summary of suggestions so far - Discussion

Several thoughts of which I am uncertain if they where posted before (Im new here):



-It would be nice to have something like the counselors in Civ

-An "auto"-mode for the exploration ships, so they explore the galaxy

-the ability to board a damaged ship instead of destroying it

-strategic retreat in battles to save important ships (Colonizing Ships)

-way more different ship types; eg. support ships etc.

-just finding hidden treasures in systems visited

-more cooperative options between factions; eg. sending science points to work together on research etc. (being able to form EU like coalitions)

-when traveling through a star system on the way to another you should be able to research a "slingshot-system" to briefly increase the travel speed by slingshooting around that star...

-A window in which you may sort known, but not colonized planets by resources

-Easier research queing, many research projects from different areas, to be able to pay attention to something else

-Being able to fast-forward several turns (although stoped if something important happens)

-More things to build on planets (defence, ship constructionyards, theaters, political buildings, police, military bases etc.)

-the circle on the "turn in progress" button should only complete, if the turn is indeed completed and not before and then continue to load

That sounds interesting and worth a thought, though I don't think the game would benefit all that much from it.

I think that'd be pretty much a waste for the game, usually you miss something to do each turn.

I kind of agree but it's a hell of work to get a working loading bar which moves according to the actual progress. The only loading bars I know which actually tell you something valuable are those from programs which work by filesize, like putting files into an archive or progressing sound files. I don't think the devs should waste time on this.

Discussion developed from the current state of affairs with Pirates in ES and the opportunities/potential they present to the depth of gameplay in ES.



I did not see this thread, should really be stickied and highlighted in bold or something.



Otherwise my poll would be alot shorter however I am more interested in seeing a more total pop opinion to the concept over time.

Hello guys!

Here are my suggestions after playing a little bit with alpha:

1. I would like to see much bigger fleets.

eg. One click for corvettes and 10 are built at the same time and act as a single fleet. The number of ships built simultaneously would depend on their class.

The bigger the ship, the smaller the fleet.

2. Weapons of Mass Destruction! I still remember my first stellar converter shot. WoW

Some examples would be :Asteroid bombardment, hostile terraforming, planet towing out of orbit, aging the star that would lead to -depending on type- swallowing planets, nova, super nova, black hole, colliding double star systems etc...

Each race could have its own unique Weapon of Mass Destruction, eg Sowers get a terraforming one.

3. I would like something more when attemting an invasion, something like an end turn report.

4. A visual representation of each race's invasion force, like marines dressed in flak, power or even terminator armor (depending tech lvl), tanks and mechs etc.

not necessarilly animated but rather like in artwork, you know?

5. A more realistic representation of the planets order orbiting the star/s. I didn't like seeing the first planet beeing arctic, the 2nd terran and the furthest from the star/s beeing lava. Doesn't make sense.

6. I would love to see an aquatic race and a game mechanic that would allow each race to have a specific type of planet as their personal "Eden".

For example aquatics treat oceans as "terran" worlds, a silicon based life form could treat lava worlds as "terran" and other races would prefer other types of planets as their best.

A Sower terraforming a planet could make it a leaving Hell for lets say...Cravers or even Humans and Sophons could have a penalty in high g worlds. Just thoughts...

7. Diplomatic counter offers and being able to make others attack enemies (this could be included in an espionage mechanic)

8. And last but not least...Earth and Sol system for the UE.

Think data pods from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or barbarian villages in Civilization.



In its simplest form, abandonned/lost ships spawned in uncolonized systems at game creation.



The player could board them, which would result in a positive or negative outcome (like global events, but only affecting the faction who does the boarding).



Taking it a step further, the boarding process could be a mini-adventure in itself: instead of simply receiving a pop-up that says "you find some Dust" or "the derelict blows up, damaging your ships in the system", it could be approached from a "Choose your own adventure"-type of perspective.



Upon boarding, a screen would pop up with a bit of text, as well as a choice to make. There could be a few steps like this, and multiple possible outcomes.



This would not only help bring the Endless Space universe to life, but also offer an excellent way to provide the player with lore.



TwistedNinja had an excellent idea in the original thread: in some cases, the Derelicts could even be "captured" and brought back home, possibly being aging Endless hulks that were lost or abandonned for whatever reason. These would function as small (1 population) "portable planets" (or space stations, if you will), offering a certain bonus to the system in which they are "parked" (possibly a +10 to one of the FIDS, like gas giants, for example).

A second diplomatic metric, in addition to the presently-existing "relationship" meter. Actually, a subset of the existing system.



My proposal is to basically break down the existing system into two sub-categories: "like/dislike" (basically what "Relationship" is now) and "trust/distrust".



These would be two axes of the same thing (the opinion the AI has of you).



My rationale for introducing a second metric is that I feel diplomacy would benefit from the added depth and breadth an extra "dimension" would bring.



The two metrics would be related, but could grow and fall independently; certain actions (or inactions) from the player might have a positive impact on one meter while having a negative one on the other.



Perhaps this system is already in place, to a degree (or is, at least, already planned). In which case, this suggestion simply becomes a request to give us the information as separate meters instead of lumping it all under one thing. The primary goal of this is to give the player a clearer understanding of the repercussions and consequences of their actions, so as to enable them to make better-informed decisions.





Alot of diplomacy functions are currently been worked on by Dev Team

Not only that, but it's something which specifically goes hand-in-hand with what is already being planned and expands/improves upon it. I admit I'm biased, but that--imho--makes it eminently relevant.

As I said before this has been suggested and is now being worked on by The Dev Team who will no doubt expand on this for the game and may well incompass your idea.
