Impossible. I never use trade routes, and rarely use "Dust per turn" deals. And yet I still usually make 400 Dust per turn. lol

@ romeo, why do you say this is impossible? If you have no trade routes, no dust per turn deals, and your *tax rate is zero*, then your dust income will be zero. I suspect your tax rate is nonzero.

I'm not certain, but I think when he says "impossible" he maens it like, "I never knew!", or "no way!!!"

Because I routinely rake in 200-400 Dust per turn, and I almost always put the tax rate at a straight 0% as soon as I'm able.

A little bit of this too, yes.

Where does the dust bonus generated by heros fit in? As an bonus to what each improvement produces before tax rate modifier, or a bonus on the total (final) dust produced by a system after tax rate modifier?

Hero +% to Dust in system comes as a bonus to all the Dust produced in that system (except for trade), after taxes. It's similar in effect to some faction traits and system improvements giving +% or -% to Dust. It affects Dust income, including the planet base Dust income, but not trade. Nothing modifies Upkeep.

Say you have 25 Dust income, but -20 in Upkeep. With a +20% to Dust, you'll end up with 30 Dust income, and still -20 Upkeep, for a total of +10.

1)How can I raise cap on number of ships in one fleet?

2)How can I raise cap on number of heroes?

3)Is it doable to ditch kinetics in favor of beam weapons?

Answer to all of them is yes, you have to research the technology.

To see what tech you might want, zoom all the way in on the tech tree. You'll be able to hover your mouse on the various improvements that each tech gives and get more details, including higher Command Points cap (look for small red stars in the left tree) and higher Academy slots (look for small blue stars in the left tree).

Beam weapons are higher tech than kinetics, but they're much better. I always skip kinetics in favor of beams.

Just curious since I can't find any...

Are there any hotkeys for this game?

I find it annoying to not be able to just hit F1 (or whatever) to pop up the empire window.

How does the "core tap" wonder work? I've restored it, and I thought it would add +1 to all the resources I owned (for global bonuses/monopoly purposes) but I don't see any change.

Browse over the wonder again to see its effects.

just for the record, single player ES works absolutely fine in steam offline mode.

the whole trick to getting anything to work in offline mode is to go into offline mode while you are still connected to the internet. if you wait until your your connection is dead and then try to launch offline mode, you're gonna have a bad time. i'm pretty sure it has something to do with drm and your steam client remembering which games you had licenses for the last time it contacted steam servers.

How can you retreat from a battle? Also how can you move away from a neutral faction's star system.

Please read the in-game tutorial and the player created tutorial linked in my sig. To retreat, choose the retreat action in the long distance phase. In many cases you cannot move away from enemy ships because they have chosen the "intercept" fleet action button, also you cannot move into an enemy region of influence if you know it is there. In general you can move the ship by declaring war, and then (if needed) destroying any ships on intercept.

Hi,

I swear I saw a button for "research the cheapest tech available" but I cant find it now?

Does such a button exist or was this a delusion? If so where is this button?

Thanks,

Harvey

For battle cards, how can one tell if the abilities are things that are positive or negative?

Eg Magnetic field has +40% deflector efficency (which seem like a good thing), and -20% beam damage (which is either a good thing, if it is enemy beams having their damage reduced, or a bad thing if my ships do less beam damage because of their defensive manovers).

I'm also intersted as to whether the following are a good thing for you, when they are on your card:

-20% antimissile interception

-20% kinetics damage

-20% efficency on deflectors

-20% defence efficency

Does anyone know if enemy fleets can destroy your hangared ships?

I am about 60 turns into a game and I had queued a colony ship, when an enemy scout showed up to that otherwise defenceless system, just as the colony ship was complete. I chose to leave it in the hangar, and hoped it would be safe there until the scout moved on. Next turn and my colony ship has vanished and I had no battle report or any notice saying that it had been destroyed. The scout ship never tried to invade my outpost.

Is this a bug or what happened?

I'm wondering about planet bonusses.

Like the industry/food/dust/science boost.

it says like +2 industry to planet +3 industry to lava and +1 to arctic(for example) does this mean that it's +3 for lava, or +5 for lava? and +1 for arctic or +3 for arctic? The bonusses(and some other stuff like it) are really weird set up and kind of confusing me every time.
