I'm wondering about planet bonusses.

Like the industry/food/dust/science boost.

it says like +2 industry to planet +3 industry to lava and +1 to arctic(for example) does this mean that it's +3 for lava, or +5 for lava? and +1 for arctic or +3 for arctic? The bonusses(and some other stuff like it) are really weird set up and kind of confusing me every time.

They are cumulative. So if it says +3 planet, +3 lava that means +6 to a lava planet. I just double checked also.

AFAIK the only place this text appears is when you get a "new system exploration bonus". Basically your explorer finds something which helps your empire's research a small amount. You cannot make this happen on demand, only from this random bonus.

Ok, this seems confusing to me, so I'll try make what's going wrong concise in the hopes of getting a reply:

  • Areas of Influence (AoI) of established colonies, as far as I know, can not be entered by ships of other factions unless they are either allied to you, or are at peace with an open borders agreement, or of course you are at war so everything goes.

  • When a faction is in Cold War with you, or at Peace but with no Border treaty, it should not be able to enter your AoI.

  • I cannot enter the AoI of any other faction unless I declare war, or negotiate the right to enter.

  • AIs, however, who are in Cold War or at Peace with me (no treaty), stroll right into and through my Area of Influence all the time.

What in Endless' name is going on here then? How come under the normal conditions, AI can wantonly fly their ships anywhere they want inside my Area of Influence, but I can't get my fleets to do so without declaring war (or negotiating open borders)?! I can't even send my fleets to a location outside their AoI if so much as a single system en-route has threads going through the AoI of another faction, yet they can randomly fly around my AoI without a problem?

Really undermines the entire Cold War = skirmishes outside of established colony space mechanic, but most of all it's only happening one way in my game - that being I can't violate their AoI, but they can violate mine whenever they please.

Before anyone suggests them, btw:

- Yes, I am talking about the AoI generated by fully established Colonies (with the bold colour outline), not the detection range of Outposts.

- No, the AIs in question are not at war with me, nor do they have an open borders treaty (doubly sure of that, since if we did have that treaty, I'd be able to go through their space too!.

No, there is not.

I thought the Pilgrims could evacuate planets? Not played them yet, so just wondered given you gave a quite categorical answer.

@The_Doctor,

You can move your ship in to an unexplored system & find another factions base with AoI but you are still aloud to move your ship either back towards the system it departed from or on to another unexplored system. In the former case if that new system is another base with AoI your ship can not return back to the system it departed from due to it having AoI but can carry on as long as there are unexplored systems. If that makes sense.... i'm tired right now smiley: alder

The Pilgrims Evacuate ability, dose not leave the system empty. One smiley: stickouttongueopulation: is left but the rest of the smiley: stickouttongueopulation: & smiley: colony are all taken away to be planted on another system. As far as i'm aware.

Thanks LocoMike.

I guess this makes sense, but it does seem weird - I use shedloads of Cis-Oort satellites and from the amount of other factions that seem to stroll around, you'd think they have 0 sensor radius and hadn't a clue my empire existed...

I'll monitor this some more to confirm, because IIRC there was a bug in beta in which other factions just didn't respect AoI whatsoever, and it reminded me of this.

It may very well be a bug, but it is not one i've encountered myself. In the case i said above has happened but after that we run in to my empire, they make no more. So i'm assuming that the AoI has no taken effect

May i have permission to monetize endless space videos on youtube? I've searched with google about 8 different ways to find the place you permit videos to be posted and monetized on youtube but i haven't been able to figure it out. Thank you very much.

Endless Space is one of the most beautiful games i've seen in ages, the love for the genre is clearly evident in the design. Great work!

That's actually spot on what you said there. If Faction A hasn't explored the system that is generating the AoI, it essentially doesn't exist. A system exerts no AoI with respect to a faction if that faction has not explored that system.

This is a bit of a down side to the Amoeba affinity, as since they are aware of the entire galaxy, any AoI changes are reflected immediately in regards to which systems can be travelled to. Other races can explore an unexplored system to discover that it is actually a colony of another race. Even though they are then within the AoI of that race, they can travel to the next unexplored system, and the next. By travelling to only unexplored systems, it's sometimes possible to map a race's entire area or cross their space completely while being at cold war, just as long as you can avoid getting destroyed.

Here's a suggestion then - perhaps AoI should not require systems to be explored to take effect, but rather to be detected by sensors - either from planets or ships. Many fleets would still end up violating it due to low sensor range, but it'd vastly reduce the amount of times that AoI is simply violated, and it'd mean that the Amoeba's ability didn't have that hitch in it.

That, and it'd be better for fleets to have to leave AoI the way they came - the current iteration where they can leave via any string so long as the planets beyond them aren't yet explored means that, for all intents and purposes, the first fleet to enter your space can go wherever the hell it damn well likes, which is both a pathetic waste of the AoI system (so much for stopping reconnaissance, huh) but more to the point is exploitable: -

An entire battlefleet can travel to a faction's capital so long as it's the first of your faction's fleets that is sent - since AoI has no effect until after a system is explored, and ships can continue through as far as they please as they can leave via any string... And then war can be declared with a battlefleet sat orbiting any planet (including the capital) that you feel like and pop an insta-death.

Steph'nie. Thank you very much for the position but youtube wants to be certain it does not get sued over this content. Is it possible for someone to write up a permission page i could link to? Does such a page already exist? If so please link it as i was unable to find one via a google search.

Without a permission page my claims to monetize will be denied by youtube. League of Legends has a page that you might be able to copy if you like. Here's the link. http://www.riotgames.com/company/legal-jibber-jabber With a link i and others will be able to assure youtube that we have permission to use this content. Thank you very much!

Oh and should anyone have an interest in my page for endless space visit Abusive yoda
