Happy Lunar New Year! Join the Community Challenge

While I think the shift to a community challenge was a good change the inability to track the progress in game or even receive acknowledgement that your progress was tallied so you knew it was working might be taking the wind out of peoples' sails. Personally I was about to give up on the event after troubleshooting the lack of an event tracker in game like there was last time. Good thing I checked the forums first. That may come back to bite you when you realize we're falling short of the goals. 

I don't see an event in the game menu. How can I join?

Perhaps I am missing something, but is there any way to tell (i.e. ensure) that we individually are contributing to this meter? I can't see any way in game or on the site. I have picked Zhou, Zhou, Zhou, Ming, and intend another Ming, followed by China... I have linked my G2G with my steam account... is that enough?

I agree with this.  IMO, it's silly not to include all cultures that celebrate Lunar New Year.

And yes, it looks like the counter is indeed stuck at 303165.  So now the question is whether it's just the counter display that's stuck or if the entire star counting system is offline...

That would include Khmer, Siamese, Joseon, Mongols, Edo Japanese, and the Japanese - would definitely make the 1 mil more achievable.

Just play the game as the factions mentioned. Play Zhou until you can unlock one of the other two and go for fame run instead of rushing to the next eras to contribute the most stars possible.

We have collected around 230K stars in 5 days.  The event lasts 20 days so at this rate we'll probably fall just short of the 1M goal.  If Amplitude had not chosen to exclude other cultures which used a lunar calendar, then we would probably be on track to reach 1M before the event ends.

At this rate we might not even make it to the first goal. Played a couple of games as Zhou myself, but not sure if I was contributing much. The game is linked to the servers by default right? Should probably check to see if there was some kinda extra log in step I need to take the next time I play, meh.

Anyone else feel like community challenge stars kind of slow? I know other games that the first stage is over with by the end of the weekend. It feel like low numbers are playing as Zhou, Ming and Chinese.

I see why people feel differently but I liked the Día de los muertos event as it engaged me to play differently and I see lots of fun in that formate.

The progression chart is a bit misleading regarding the effective progress, as the first step (500000) should really be in the middle of the scale, not this far on the left. So it would not be surpising to only hit it around February 6th.

Based on the current progress, I would say the numbers may be a bit too high. The timing of the DLC also breaks the challenge, as most people that have bought the DLC will be playing he new cultures, instead of these 3 ones. I'll try and play a bit more this week "to do my part" :D

Not directly related to your comments here, but I'm a little surprised that collective progress has been this slow.  I was expecting this challenge to progress just a little faster than the Amplified challenge since you can gain many Era stars for a culture per-game (particularly if you just transcend) where the Amplified quest just progressed for each game started.  (Assuming I understood the Amplified quest rules correctly.)  Guess Zhou/Ming/Chinese aren't on the optimal minmax path for many players.  I would support the addition of Joseon/Edo to make things a bit more fair culturally and also to help give players a bit more freedom when playing the game.

Yeah I don't know. Last week-end with the doubled stars we got back on track, but this week-end either the doubling of stars didn't work or people just didn't play. 3 weeks is probably too long, especially with only 3 cultures contributing. And bad timing with an event with Chinese cultures when a DLC with African cultures just released that people wanted to try.
