Celts are already confirmed, Dionde. Same for Phoenicians and Carthiginians.

Ancient Israelites are already in, albeit indirectly, since Assyrians (a cosmopolitan culture which included these people) are playable in the Bronze Age.

We have written confirmation of Phoenicians (and their culture card with a Phoenician trading ship). Carthaginians are currently inferred from the presence of Carthiginian elephant troops ingame, as well as in the promotional concept art with those iconic helmets of theirs.

And yeah, they're Bronze and Classical Era, respectively.

"Doubled" cultures are not uncommon in this game. So far we know of Mycaenean Greeks along with Classical Greeks, Zhou and Ming Chinese, English (Medieval Era) and British (Spitfires on culture card art), Nara and later period Japan, Teutons and Germany,...

Maybe. Still seems a little like saying Mexico is in the game because Spain is and Mexico was a part of Spain.

I can't agree with that comparison.

Still, there is a chance we'll see the modern state in the game.

It's just that the actual history of these people doesn't go that far. We do have historical accounts and evidence of Israelites because of their conquest and assimilation by the Assyrians. Prior to that, we have nothing to really go on. Their unique culture developed during this time and only started showing afterwards. Bible as such only gives us foundation myths up to that point. The Bible, Judaism, the Hebrew (Assyrian) script,... all of these things developed as you know them during the Assyrian empire.

Up to that point, it was just another Semitic kingdom which we group under the Phoenician moniker. Who are in the game already.

Agree to disagree I guess.

Anyway, whether we get them at launch or later, what would you say the first three native american cultures to get in would be? I'm thinking Aztec, Mayan, and Incan.

Olmecs are already a thing. The reveal trailer also has units which look a lot like some sort of North American post-contact tribesmen with rifles.

So at least some of those are getting in as well.

Incas are a given if they want to represent each cultural region of America (that is Northern plains, South and Mesoamerica) at least once.

Mayans and Aztecs, who knows? Though it would be a shame not to be able to follow up the Olmecs with anything (even if unrelated, like in the case of East Asian cultures) for another era.

I know the ancient era cultures may have been confirmed already, but I'd like to see Norte Chico as a South American representative, if not in the base game then as DLC.

Oh man I never noticed that! Those look like Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) warriors, who did adopt firearms.

Which era Italy though? Medieval era Venice/ Genoa merchants, Renaissance era Florence/ Pisa artists, or Industrial era nationalists?

Is that only me, or do those riders to the right look vaguely Winged Hussar-ish?

I agree they do look like Winged Hussars!

I am hoping to see the Incas and the Tiwanaku culture. This last has never been represented and what we know about them is amazing.
