Stadia update?

Given the differences between the PC and Stadia versions (architecture, timeline...), and to better inform the players, it could be useful to distribute the changelog of each update released on the platform. Just a clone of the "HUMANKIND - RELEASE NOTES" thread but for Stadia.

For example, since today's update, the borders between territories are less visible than before. How these kinds of platform-specific issues are handled and resolved is currently difficult to track.

Also, since the version number is still not displayed in the game, this kind of thread would allow to quickly see the status of the updates.

Yes, as you already noticed we deployed the patch 4.1 today [1.0.5.549], we were waiting the final confirmation before announcing it here.
Next update, as we mentioned to you, will be at the end of April and will contain Jigonhsasee and Allen Newell (the current one) + hotfixes. Regarding the DLC it won’t arrive to Stadia, for the moment.
I know this is unpleasant news, but we prefer to be completely honest and transparent with you.

Thank you. Will we be able to participate in events now that the update is in?

Humankind is available through Geforce Now, and would be the epic/steam versions - in case anyone is looking for an alternative cloud source for the game.

Sounds okay but, although this might not be other preference, I want to play on my TV with a controller and on my phone with touch controls.

Gfn doesn't offer that. And on top: this would be a made up solution to someone else problem (amplitudes by their lack of support).

Still no changelog for us, still no version number in game, still no timed events, still no dlc. It's really really bad. Was hoping they would port the endless series over as well.... Well if this is the support I can expect....

Yeah, me too. GFN is okay while setting at a computer, but Stadia's better everywhere else.

There is a patch coming in April, so it's not like Amplitude has given up. (Well, maybe)

I just know some people literally don't have the computer to run the game, so cloud services are their only option. I still haven't decided if I'm throwing in the towel yet. I really prefer stadia.

Some clarification on this would be good. There is a post on the Stadia subreddit right now claiming that it was stated here that future DLC will not be coming to Stadia:

Given that Google is in the process of downgrading Stadia into a generic white label cloud service, I would imagine that updating Stadia games isn't a priority for any game developer.  I will also give general caution about buying additional games on Stadia as the future of the service is incredibly uncertain.

Yes, downgrading and shutting down the service - that's why they're still spending money bringing games like City Skylines to the platform.

Come on dude, there's enough doom in the world, you don't have to bring it to video games.

Not trying to spread doom and gloom - just relaying the news of Google's announcement for those who haven't heard it already.  If you're comfortable with their level of service, then feel free to carry on.

I've got lots of buddies I grew up with on warcraft 2, civ, starcraft, etc. We all have old PCs from when Starcraft 2 came out around 2008 and can barley run the xbox gamepass version of the game at 720p fastest graphics settings on a small map. Most of us play console now but still love strategy games but don't wanna fork out money for a new pc for 1 game. Stadia is perfect for this and we can play this game on more than just our pc. It's stupid for the developer to not see this in favor of a quick buck. I still have a very good portion of friends that would buy the stadia version if they weren't worried about not getting updates and dlc. Why invest in this version of the game just to give up on it?

You are spreading misinformation. Their B2B cloud gaming service is not mutually exclusive with the consumer-facing Stadia platform, it just shares the underlying tech and infrastructure. Stadia is essentially its first and main B2B client. Stadia is not dead / dying / going away.

And I would very much appreciate an update on Humankind for Stadia, which I regrettably purchased not knowing developer support would be so lacking. My previous request for clarification of the previous update from 2 months ago in this thread I can see was completely ignored.

This week Google officially announced at their Google for Games Developer Summit that Stadia is officially pivoting as a service of Google Cloud.  (https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2022/03/stadias-pivot-to-a-google-cloud-product-is-official/)

So no, Stadia is not dead now and could continue to live on.  However, it is worth noting that Stadia did underperform and that Google does tend to kill off underperforming products (or even ones that have merely average performance).  So it's up to the individual Stadia users to decide if they are happy with the service now and how far to read into the fact that Google is making this significant of a change at this point in Stadia's lifecycle.  The only reason that I brought it up was to maybe explain the reason behind why Stadia updates do not appear to be a priority and to make everyone aware of this strategy change.

The very article you linked states that the technology underpinning stadia is being made available on Google Cloud. The headline is not accurate to the content of the article, and in fact, is not accurate to the source the article references.

There's no pivoting of anything, they're just making the tech available in addition to running the platform. They're clearly still working on the platform - the store is opening to non-registered users, they're adding timed free trials to games without signups.

The same keynote you're using as reference for Stadia dying states the opposite.

But you're right, the platform underperformed. The BI article states they merely had 750000 users, compared to the 1 million they were aiming for after 1 year.
