Victoria 3 is released with M1 Mac support, and works as fine as on Windows. It's a year since Humankind is released, and yet have any news about supporting M1 Mac. This is really frustrating. I can imagine it can be tricky to make it work, but just look at your competitors.

I mean, seriously... as I've said before, just... say... something...

Old World works M1 Native too... and quite well...

Ditto.

According to Steam, this game is mac compatible, but it is not on current macs. Can't you even respond? Ideally there would be a pinned note so we don't have to keep searching around looking for updates.

I play this on my M1 MacBook Air

You can switch it to I believe what is called Rosetta in order to make it compatible to function on your MacBook as "normally"

But it lags so hard for me on my MacBook, so I use Nvidia. Its a beautiful game on MacBook but unfortunately in the context of actually gaming I need to use NVIDIA Force NOW or whatever it is called ($10.00 a month) in order to play the game (That is streamed at less quality than it would be on my Mac)

It's not completely unplayable. I can force it to run under Rosetta, but the graphics bugs in combat view like this. It just surprises me that it could take so long to fix it

Sadly, I think that Amplitude has abandoned M1 Mac and doesn't even have the courtesy to tell us that...

That would be weird, going forward all Macs will be M series, maintaining an Intel Mac version is nonsense. Unless they abandon Mac gamers all together.

Sadly, it seems that Humankind will abandon all Mac gamers :-(

Sorry about the extended silence. Not really what we wanted to happen.

The good news: Our devs have been working away behind the scenes, and the next patch should be running fine on M1 systems. However, we'd like to have some additional eyes on this to verify, so please feel free to check out the update_preview branch on Steam.

You can find the patch notes for the preview branch here: https://www.games2gether.com/amplitude-studios/humankind/forums/168-general/threads/51146-hotfix-3-preview-branch-holiday-hotfix#post-365470

First of all massive thanks for not giving up the M1 Mac and trying to fix the issues !!

Downloaded the update_preview and launched it but the game hangs up and shows this screen after playing the initial video (the one that ends with the SEGA logo):

The FPS counter still moves and the Mac gets kind of warm so there seems to be some computation happening but the pink screen didn't move for the 15 minutes that I waited. Pressing any key didn't make the pink screen disappear. Restarting the game or the Mac also didn't help.

So I unfortunately can't really test the black tiles bug or anything else (since I am stuck at that pink screen).

I am running the latest update_preview on an M1 Pro (10 CPU, 16 GPU if that matters) with macOS Ventura 13.0.1.

PS: The pink screen happens both when I launch the game in Rosetta mode and also when I launch it in non-Rosetta mode.

Well, that's obviously not good... Even worse than the black squares people reported in battles before.

Could you share your diagnostics file and player log so we can check on this? (I'm not familiar with where the game stores these on Mac, but you should find info in the How to Report a Bug thread.)

Hi, looked for both these things but:

- the Temporary files folder is (except for the readme file) empty so I assume that means that the game has not created any Diagnostic files yet

- the user/library/logs/ folder does not contain a folder named "amplitude studios" so I assume that means that the game has not created any Player.Log files yet

If I looked in the wrong folders or there is anything else that I can try/share please let me know!

I got the same behavior(pink screen), but luckily I see log files and diagnostics produced on my Mac.

So I reported in the Bug Report forum, hope this will help locate the problem. Thank you for all the work behind the scenes! It feels really great to know Mac gamers are not abandoned.

Hi

Allow me to also second that it's a very pleasant surprise to see this news.  Glad to see that you all hadn't given up on us :-)

I'm running MacOS Ventura 13.0 on a Studio M1 Max w/ 64 GB RAM and I am also seeing the Pink screen with the update_preview branch (in both Rosetta and M1 native)

I found a Player.log file in /user/library/logs/Amplitude Studios/Humankind/ but not sure where I might find the diagnostics files requested

For me, the diagnostics are here: /Users/<user>/Library/Application\ Support/Humankind/Temporary\ Files/Diagnostics\ \(2022\'12\'09\ @1714\'34\'\'761\'\'\'\).html

Hi Everyone,

I found this forum while searching answers for my problem with HUMANKIND on MacAir M1. Reading about  your issues it seems that their look like mine. After a few turns game gets frozen. It's very strange because i have already played more than 80 hours with no problems, loged in by classic way on steam not using rosette mode at all. Recently(ca. since two weeks) HUMANKIND get some update and from this moment I can't play more than 4-5 turns beacuse game gets frozen. Please help.

The game should be compatible with M1 and M2 chipsets now... Can you share your player.log and diagnostics.xml with us please, so we can pass them to the programmers for a closer look? (Instructions on where to find them are here: https://community.amplitude-studios.com/amplitude-studios/humankind/forums/215-bug-reports/threads/41674-how-to-report-bugs?page=1#post-324570 )

Thank you for this update. finally it works. I'll be able to play it natively and not with a poor virtualization service. I'll take some attention to the new civilisations added. Once again thank you for not letting us behind.

We still can't play on the M1 soon after around turn 120. After that point the software freezes and the game is unplayable?! You can reboot, load the game and I'm lucky if I get one or two turns before it freezes again. It's unacceptable that this game does this. I guess I'll have to go back to Civ6 until Civ 7 comes out. At least the Civ game worst flawlessly on my M1 Mac. I'm very disappointed after buying this game. The most frustrating part is that the game lets me get into it and it is fun, but I can never get past the industrial era. :(
