[PC/Epic] Game crashes before Startup

Every time i try and boot up the game it shows this screen, loads about a third, and then crashes. I've tried deleting the beta files, verifying the files, uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Rebooting my pc in a safe mode so no other applications or programs were running. Nothing has worked.

My game is doing the exact same thing and I have tried all of the fixes they have given to try to help this. Hopefully it gets solved shortly.

I'm experiencing the same problem as described by Triggy.


Never played the beta, so deleting files inside \Users\...\Documents\Humankind doesn't fix anything.


Error message in "Diagnostics..." file:

In my case the game crashes just after SEGA logo in the initial video has been displayed. No error message - just back to desktop.

Posted over here as well. I am having the same issue as zepierre. The OAuth error is documented here and does not seem like something resetting files or restarting will help. Just in case the CorrId is helpful for debugging, here is mine.

Same problem. About 60% loading a game it shows the small window with hand on it. That small window loads something then when it finishes the game crashes.

I'm running of Windows 7 64bit, on i7-5820k, Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, 16GB RAM.

Did try all the workarounds found on steam discussions (drivers, libraries etc.). Don't have any Sonic studio, and uninstalled Epic Game Launcher already. Still same problem. Tried different settings in graphics, nothing there changes anything. Turning the sound off also didn't do anything (someone suggested also removing two sound files, that didn't change anything either so I put them back in). Administrative privileges don't change anything either. Open Dev builds were running without problems (and yes, I removed the folder from my documents).

Tried to launch map editor just to see if that would work, but got the same crash.

After trying everything, this fix finaly helped me: removing/renaming, EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll.

(Path: Humankind\Humankind_Data\Plugins\x86_64\EOSSDK-Win64-Shipping.dll )

Uninstalling Epic Gmaes Launcher didn't help me here before. The log I posted before suggested it was memory problem (with I knew wasn't the real issue after I did some tests and checks after learning that).

I still don't know why that file is making such difference, and making the log produce those different errors, but I can finally play.

I just got it to work besides the fact that it blew away my profile/persona but i should be able to get it back. 


its back by deleting C:\Users\elodd\OneDrive\Documents\Humankind .

Delete fields C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\Humankind\Temporary Files don't change anything.


You want make bether than Civilization ?

- Civilization never gave me a problem when I started...

- I can play at Civilization.

Pour info, sur le problème "The user has not consented to required scopes. ", après avoir purgé tout ce que je pouvais purger (répertoires temporaires, caches, réinstallation, ...) je tombe sur : l'erreur "LS-0013: Game is unable to launch".

I have the same issue. Purchased through Epic Store.


  1. I have deleted the Close Beta file in Documents
  2. Verified install
  3. Set Administrator to Epic Store, tried the HumanKind exe but that cause another crash so reverted.
  4. Updated driver, C++ and DirectX.
  5. Turned off Geforce Experience overlay, this got me futher into the launch, strangly to where I see a single frame counter in top left and the game mouse icon then craches again.


I have purchased it on Epic Store, yet my Geforce Experience, says it is the epic games install location, but wants to launch through steam when I try launch there.

Donc j'imagine que le programme se rabat sur une version par défaut... et à priori oui puisque le fichier est créé une fois le crash établi.

Donc à priori : Id à NULL et Token à NULL. Et Type à "Developer". Bon. Pourquoi pas ? (ça ne ressemblerait pas à une configuration de travail, ça ?)

En fait, c'est assez pénible de ne pas avoir de nouvelles ni d'Amplitude ni d'Epic Games sur le fait que le plantage est en cours d'investigation ou pas.

Le lanceur Epic Games s'est mis à jour il y a quelques minutes, mais le jeu ne se lance pas.

Pour info, le nom de mon compte a changé entre la bêta (nom du compte : "Goleme_Pabr") et la version finale (nom du compte : "Laird_Goleme").

Si par exemple la version finale essaye de récupérer la config du compte en utilisant le nom de compte précédent, ça pourrait poser problème.

One week and no patch. Apparently devs consider this to be nonurgent issue. Game not running - meh. Just wait for a next scheduled patch.

Sorry, but I'm going to buy Civilization instead.

From the marketing point of view not fixing this bug on Epic platform can be a profitable delay for Games2Gather - a few eager players could buy this game once more on Steam platform, increasing company revenues. And I really hope I am wrong on this point.

No, there is no point in this at all, since there is a refund option (policy on Epic is the same as for Steam: less than 2 hours played (obviously checked, since game is not launching) and less than two weeks old). And people who have taken this course of action would be much less eager to buy a game in other stores after this kind of service

have the same problem but if i make Graphikdriver new install it works and i can play

just one time if i start my pc new the same problem

Evgesha, relax it's just bad QA. for today nothing and nobody can help you with it. Wait 1 year and back again to play with joy, i hope.

ofcourse you can load your log and the other things, But be realistic:


almost a year since release, there is still nothing correction error's from unity with 'out of memory' (i have 24 gb RAM lol) Mostly after 2-3 hours of play in my case. But the weaker the PC people have, the more often and faster they will see similar errors (optimization) The game uses 4k at a maximum of no more than 15 gb ram) there can be no out of mamory, especially on the new 24 Ram with R5 5600x rtx3070 (+-5,5 gb vram of 8gb vram game used in 4k). The problem is not with PC, drivers or DX or other software or OS, just bad QA since 1 year after release karl! as people wrote earlier, main competitor 'Civilization 5 or 6' without problem at all..


There are also situations when one is repaired and the other is broken. Such situations are typical for weak programmers who like to use loops or crutches.

But i love this game, i have all dlc, but due to the abundance of errors forced to go to Civilization 6..
