I agree, it's cool to keep all the games linked, but...I'm not sure about locking people who don't want/can't afford DotE out of a new faction. If it was simply a skin, like how the Sheredyn used to be just a reskin of the UE, then I suppose it would be okay. But a whole new faction? Seems like an odd choice.

I'm sure the Vaulters will be available by other means down the line, and this is currently just a bonus incentive for purchasing DotE.

Yeah, feelings are shared. I mean personally I think it's a cool idea to link all the game together somehow. But my most hated type of game is roguelike games, honestly I find them really really boring. Or any kind of hardcore RPG for that matter. Also the fact that you HAVE to buy the founders pack just seems cruel. I might be okay with playing the normal cost for Dungeon of the Endless (maybe I'd like it?), but having to buy to more expensive version, ouch.

I really hope they find a reasonable solution, many people are upset by this.

I agree. If there is a need for money, the vaulters should be accessible as a dlc at some cost, instead of tying this to a not really related other game of a wholly different genre.

Well, if there was a need for money, why would amplitude give a 50% off coupon to ES gold with the founder pack? that Coupon (yes, I know there has been an issue with people getting the coupon, so this may not be a true analysis) is worth $17 50, which is more than the cost of the Founder Pack. And yes I do realize that the coupon is pretty much worthless to players that already on ES gold, but giving it to your buddy still results in a loss of money for Amplitude, right? thats what has me confused.

And not that I am trying to argue, but ES and DotE still technically are in the same genre of Strategy (according to Steam). And it isn't necessarily unrelated. If the Vaulters were the ones transporting prisoners to Auriga, it makes sense to include them with the founder pack since they *may* serve as the link between the two games. But yeah, feel free to rip that argument apart with your VIP insights lol I still acknowledge that you are more in the loop than I.

I am disappointed as well. I understand the motivation of cross-selling but in my opinion this should be limited to meta-game (achievements, badges, etc.) or style aspects (unique colors, insignias, etc.).

I truly hope though that Amplitude will provide another mean to access the vaulters (at a later point ?!).

Thank you!

1) Zero interest in a game that is of a different genre which is also in alpha.

2) Zero interest in what should be a DLC that only works without mods.

I'm sure there are ppl who are fine with these factors and will pay up but I'm one of them. I'm also a bit sour on the military sort bug that came with my purchase of Disharmony. It was finally fixed but only a couple weeks ago after several other patches.

True. In the U.S. its discounted to $15 with a base price of $20.

Could it be some kind of compensation for the difference of purchasing power between the Euro and USD? That goes against intuition, but reasoning can be provided to support it << Could provide details but that would turn out to be a wall of text.

Of course, this sets the International American Economy into a death spiral, but at least we get quality French video games for cheap, right?

My wife sometimes buys and sells items through Ebay and anything coming into and out of EU is heavily taxed. Some of her German and Danish friends say it is because many countries use the taxes to subsidize their healthcare and other state-ran programs.

While I'm enjoying DotE quite a bit, I can certainly understand this. My two cents: it's totally worth it for the Vaulters alone. Their affinity is fantastic and I love playing a science focused human race.

If that could be documented in game some where (3x faction disapproval until portal at which case becomes 0), it'd be most appreciated. smiley: smile

That was a wrong statement. Asking Meedoc resulted in the confirmation that building it on outposts, already, is the intended way.

While I do believe they will eventually be available to the rest of us, I am part of the crowd who is saddened by their decision not make them immediately available as DLC. I'd almost think it'd be better for them to sell a Vaulters DLC that gives a discount to DotE if they want to try and get people to pay for it as well, rather than leaving their customers with a bad taste in their mouth as they have with this particular choice.

I'm very disappointed in having to purchase the founder's pack of Dungeon of the Endless in order to play The Vaulters faction in Endless Space. I have no interest in playing Dungeon of the Endless and have played Endless Space (and Disharmony) from its release. Why do I have to pay for a game I don't want in order to get the latest update to Endless Space? A game that is in Alpha and finding video of the actual game play seems impossible. All I have to say is this is very disappointing. I expected better.

I have no doubt that later on, maybe when DotE has recieved Gold-Status, that everyone may be able to get the Vaulters for the price of a Mini-DLC.

As of now the Faction is a reward for those that supported another game in an early stage just like the Sheredyn were for those that supported and preordered the Emperor-Edition.

So just keep calm and wait until you have an official statement that either you will never receive the Vaulters or that, just like the Sheredyn, they reduce community fragmentation with a future addon/patch.
