Definitely agree. Someone wrote in a previous thread how there needs to be a lot more options for ground invasion, i.e. bombing + infrastructure destruction, physical occupation etc.

Agreed. Sometimes it's just much more effective to wipe out a colony than it is to take it over.

Who cares about effectiveness, I just want to commit space genocide.

What's so wrong with that?

I really would like this feature.

It could just be implemented as a disband colony button AFTER you take it over. It could take a a few turns to take effect depending on the size of the colony.

Right now I have killed an opponents colony because it was near my space, but the system itself only has 1 planet and is negatively affecting my income. Would prefer some better way to deal with these.

Hello,

Although the idea is temptng, it might un-ballance the game. If the option is implemented, it should come at a very high cost (i.e. Heavy diplomatic loss).

Sometimes when I'm fighting another Empire I want to remove one of their colonies but I don't want to take on the cost of improving/defending the colony. I would love if we could be given the ability to simply wipe the colony off the planet instead of being forced to control it.

As I said on another thread about pretty same subject: this is genocide ! you barbarian !

Can't wait smiley: smile

By the way, a solution could be employing massive destruction weapon. (transforming all the system worlds in barren or lava worlds)

I like this idea. Maybe the final military weapon you get is a sort of planet buster. One that either eliminates the planet entirely or at least makes it lava. Maybe a tool to destroy a star itself to isolate cosmic paths and rid that system entirely. I mean with the warp drive it won't matter much but will slow down travel.

And in all seriousness disbanding colonies needs to be implemented because some of the classes are "evil" aligned so it would only be suiting.

This is a fine idea, but I think that the size, race, and faction of the colony should impact how unhappy people are with the razing of the colony. There is a big difference between destroying an tiny colony that is about to be taken over by the ultimate ship, and then there is the colony that is the space-equivalent of New York being disbanded just because the emperor said so.

I agree with this. But when my Craver warships take over a system, the last thing they should think about is diplomatic ramifications :P

I agree with the fact there should be other options than capture. Raze or even blow ? why not ? Got a stellar converter, a deathstar or some red matter in stock ?

I totally agree.

While I love the simplicity of the current invasion system, sometimes I need my fleets somewhere else and a quick and dirty way to remove a colony would be quite useful.

It would need to come with a diplomacy penalty proportional to the population you've exterminated, of course.

"Wipe them out... All of them" Muhahahaha...

+1

A must have in a game of this genre...it saves so much time to just raze through an enemies empire! I don't want to leave any trail in the history of my conquered hostile empires *hrhrhrhr*

Absolutely. The entire planetary conquest/destruction side of the game need to be greatly expanded. As it stands now, it's very uninteresting.

Reminder This game is still under development and their is still alot work to be done by Dev team

+1, stellar convertor was so much fun in moo2 smiley: cool

I think bombardment weapon should be added, their only use being killing colonist, perhaps taking several turn (a gauge of destruction, like the one for conquest), cost a lot in approval in your empire, and perhaps an high tech world killer.

Agreed. You should be able to raze colonies. It might also be interesting to look into the idea of 'glassing' planets via orbital bombardment, rendering them much less useful for recolonization. (This could be balanced by being expensive or time-consuming to carry out, with a hefty tech requirement.)

Also, how long does it take you guys to conquer a fully fledged colony? It seems to take me forever to take anything but a recently established outpost.
