What's missing in this thread: Stadia actually sold fast updates to it's users. And now it's lagging behind the competition. I'm going to send a complaint to Google/Stadia too.

That's just not Stadia's fault. Stadia always delivers updates promptly, you could see that in Cyberpunk and Baldur's Gate 3. It's up to the developers how fast they deliver patches and in the case of Stadia they just sleep.

The worst thing is not that it takes longer. That can be yes, only simply to be silent that does not work. You should just educate the people who paid just as much money as the PC users.

I bought the Steam version yesterday out of frustration and play it via Gforce Now, it is already a noticeable difference and the game feels more complete.

This is not the best protest, but I just enjoy the game too much and want the best experience (besides, the Steam deck is coming next year anyway).

I got an update on Twitter.

"Hey Stefan, Stadia patches are on their way, though no ETA on them quite yet. An external studio is working with us on the Stadia version, and their expertise will help us ensure that Stadia patches will work as intended. Thanks for your patience.

For all Stadia players who are as disappointed as I am.

Sorry for the late response. Stadia patches are on their way, though no ETA on them quite yet. An external studio is working with us on the Stadia version, and their expertise will help us ensure that Stadia patches will work as intended.

I'm sorry, but a promise to do better about communicating to the Stadia platform was already promised a couple of weeks ago (by you I believe). Is it possible to please illuminate us as full, paying customers on the efforts now being made and in the future to change the way you communicate and update this platform? What has changed? Should we refund this defective product? Are you planning a future roadmap that is different than other platforms?

Please, tell us you haven't already abandoned paying customers on day one.

"Games2gether" except if you play on another platform than PC. There is nothing wrong with a developer disliking a platform, but then just don't release your game on that platform. This feels like a 'thank you for your 60 euro's, now buy it on PC because we don't give a shit'.

Things like the fact that you don't do development on the Stadia version yourself are the kind of things you should disclose before your customers spend their money. This is just a continuation of the cross-play bait (putting cross play on the Stadia Store, them remove it 1 day before release). In the future please either fix this or stop pretending you care about the community, everything indicates you mostly like the communities wallet.

There appears to be some kind of update on chromecast android TV for humankind with scroll speed on the right joystick. It's much faster now which feels amazing and there are sliders under gameplay for keyboard scroll which I don't remember. Seems to have just happened sometime today.

This feels terrible as well. Was really hyped for the game and at the moment my really one and only go to. But the crossplay thing and now the abundance of updates..... And there are not even communication updates about those things. (Expect for that 1 message lol).

Look at CDPR and CP2077: they offer updates and patches to ALL platforms. So how hard can it be to keep PC and Stadia (= 2 platforms or doesnt it work like that when you offer your games through multiple stores?) simultaneously up to date?

CP2077 is a great example. Here Stadia is even a huge advantage compared to other platforms. So from my perspective Stadia shouldn't be worse, it should be "easier" to have everything up to date as fast as possible...at least for the user base...

I wouldn't go that far. QLOC did the Cyberpunk 2077 port and I believe handle the patches as well. It can be a good thing to hire a team with experience porting to Stadia to assist with that and make sure it's a good port.

I see this as very good news, and it sounds like there may have already been a patch for Stadia based on this:

i actually didn't buy humandkind yet, but i was thinking about getting the stadia version because i don't own a pc.

after reading this thread, i am not sure wheter i should do that.

i guess "no map editor" just means you can't manually edit maps, but the random generator works fine?

guess i'll keep waiting, hopefully it wont take that long.

Currently I would also advise against buying the Stadia version of Humankind. If you don't have a PC and you are interested, you can buy the Steam version and play it with Gforce Now. Then you would have the patched version with all features.

but gforce now does not support direct touch (and not even controller), and therefore i can't play it directly from my phone. :/

After talking to the producers to confirm which patch version was released on Stadia, I can now tell you that yesterday's patch is the equivalent of Patch 1.0.2.139 on PC, plus some additional improvements for the touch controls. We're working to port the latest PC patch to Stadia, but I do not have an estimate on when it will be ready. Unfortunately, patches after that will likely still be later and less frequent compared to the PC version, as we work with our partners to ensure the best quality port of these patches rather than risking a bad patch.

Thank you finally for the heads up and the explanation on the future of the game with delayed updates. I have refunded the game entirely.
