yes, i agree. got a bunch of friends who played civ and hopped onto the humankind train when we saw it, loved the combat systems and figuring out the mechanics but goddamn the amount of desyncs and disconnects is quite abhorrent. a couple of turns in and we all drop, tried to reload and one of us gets disconnected during the loading process. 


getting really tired of the unplayable state of the game right now. 

Same here - been absolutely excited for Humankind and loving it when it is working. 


My partner and I are now literally playing Civ instead (which works perfectly) - Humankind Multiplayer is just unplayable at the moment.

Yeah me, my gf, and her brother were playing and we kept getting desynced and maybe only once we got the lost connection, but after we try to join the server again it either kicks one or both of them and we need to keep trying to get back in. And I have had the issue now within the last hour or two at least 20 different times. We're loving the game but damn when this happens it gets kinda frustrating.

Youre welcome @Saikana, I am happy to see this is now passed on. As @Kabs1982 said if we follow the "rules" mentioned the game is will lot less likely become unstable. I hope that this find of @Stealthkibbler and my proposed workaround to limit user access to "read-only" to the map / UI after "end turn" will solve a lot of these causes.

Also hope you can reproduce these findings.

@alQamar you're a hero! You did a lot of  QA's work for them.  Multiplayer is the only way my friends and I play this game. I can't wait for this bug to be fixed!

We did not get this in the latest update, I hope this will be fixed soon!  Any updates @saikana be greatly appreciated. Did this make the sprint?

@alQamar Wonderful work on how to get this to repro, I am about to try some of these suggestions on my MP game to see if we can get past 3-5 turns without the issue. Thank you, I am so excited to get to late game but playing this game solo is just not for me.

Long ago, my friends and I pre-ordered the game. We played the Closed Beta and were suspicious because there was no multiplayer for a 'Civ Killer' ten years in the making.

Now I have played hundreds of hours of multiplayer ALONE !

My friends all DLed the game at launch.

We all have game dedicated broadband links of 70Mb/sec or better.

We tried to play multiplayer.

But within a few turns, one or more of us got "You have lost your internet connection", which really is not very empathic or true. It's annoying wording.

The game has fudged out, guys, not my internet. I assure you. I pay A LOT to make sure I have a totally stable link. It's never disconnected a Call of Duty or Battlefield game ever, and anything like a true lag spike is very very rare. That's what you pay for.

The most common time for the disconnect now is at the end of the first turn after reload from save, with successive turns less and less likely to fail. In other words when the game has auto-saved and is trying to sync with whatever cloud wherever. The problem is, imho, at the cloud. Never buy cheap cloud folks!

Anyway, back then, we would reload a save. Half the time the save reflects the game state, for example at end of turn. Half the time it is the start of the last turn. 

Now in an average game at turn 100, I have about 30 military units. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to make each turn. So losing a turn is annoying, a lot. ( my current solo multiplayer game on Humankind difficulty, at turn 92 has 27 units, 4 cities, 23 total provinces)

Anyway, ALL my firends gave up long ago.

YES, we ALL saved every turn before we pressed end turn, every single time, and over-filled our save game cloud quota many times. Cheap cloud again. Meh.

We reloaded over and over and over.

But they gave up. It was bad.

When combined with all the other bugs, it was too much.

They left. They won't come back. They will abuse the game to anyone who will listen. They looked at these forums, and did not want to bother trying to make a better world. If I mention Humankind, they abuse me, bad!

I am playing on!

I am also playing Civ VI with them right now, while I type this note to you. And I will continue Humankind alone after they go to bed.

I play multiplayer Humankind, alone, for one reason.

So, Some future day, I can report that Humankind no longer has a "lost internet" BUG!


I live in hope.

The desync issue should have been fixed as the highest priority. I bought this game because one of my friends loves this genre of gaming (we had a lot of fun playing other games of this type) in order to play together. We are both very patient people, and have tried on many occasions to play this, but every time we play the game becomes almost unplayable after the first couple of eras. The game constantly disconnects and sometimes it isn't possible to recover from the last auto (or manual) save either because one of the players will just disconnect during the game load process or it will disconnect at the end of the loaded turn anyway. I feel that I have just thrown my money away as I don't generally play these kinds of games solo. As a software dev myself, showing a message saying the network or host disconnected is a big slap in the face because I know it has nothing to do with the network (which I have tested). My only other idea is to try playing hot-seat and share access to my screen (don't know if the game supports this or not). If anyone is considering buying this game for the purpose of playing multiplayer don't waste your time.

Insanely good game but impossible to play in multiplayer which is really a shame I'd love to be able to play with my friends without loosing them every 10 turns or so. May be try to increase the timeout duration before loosing a player.
