[PC Gamepass/Windows Store] "You were forcibly disconnected from the game" on join/create MP lobby

@Astamarr - Appreciate the update. Is it possible to get someone to pin a thread stating this is a known issue and being worked on with MSFT? As a player, I had to really dig to find this thread and it would calm us fans a bit. Keep up the good work! :)

I have 4 people that are unable to play multiplayer. Hope this gets resolved soon, was really looking forward to playing with friends.

So digging into the event viewer I get the following:

Could it be a permissions issue?

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID 

{37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD}

 and APPID 

{37399C92-DC3F-4B55-AE5B-811EE82398AD}

 to the user GWC-MAINCOMP\ucjig SID (S-1-5-21-3236805605-4108682093-1448752304-1002) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Microsoft.GamingApp_2108.1001.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe SID (S-1-15-2-1723189366-2159580849-2248400763-1481059666-1951766778-2756563051-3565589001). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

Trying to find the specific app container is proving difficult. I was able to pin down the registry entry and change perms to allow for my profile to activate it, but I can't find this app container in my component services:


 Microsoft.GamingApp_2108.1001.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

So, I have found one way to fix this. First of all, you should check, that your accounts in Microsoft Store and Xbox are similar.  

try to start, if it does not help,  then open the Xbox companion and change your Gamertag and launch game.  
it helped me and my friends

I also get this issue trying to create a multiplayer session or join one, while using Gampass for PC. It seems to be random, as I saw other people using Gamepass for PC join BurkeBlack's session during his current stream (or most recent, depending on when this gets read).

My friend and me had the same issue. The trick with using a different Xbox live account worked - the account I used was part of my family group and was sharing GamePass for PC. What I did was log out of the Xbox app, log in with my new account, launch Humankind. Creating and joining multiplayer sessions worked - however this account did not unlock Xbox achievements, even though in-game trophies with the same content did unlock?

I get this warning every 10 seconds when sitting in a lobby screen just fine (I've done the 'use another Microsoft account' workaround).

This doesn't work. For very few this might work but for most it doesn't. We just have to wait until devs/MS fixes it.

As a long time user of gamepass, this type of issue occurs more often than it should. Most recently, I recall Paradox having similar authentication issues on gamepass (Empire of Sin). Hopefully MS starts to see the level of harm this causes (look at Humankind reviews in the Xbox/Gamepass app - definitely not a good look or fair on Amplitude).

yeah totally but even then the gamepass users are missing a large portion of the fun, i cant wait to play the multiplayer mode, i hope it gets fixed in the coming days/weeks

This just seems to happen with Game Pass on PC. On Xbox it just works. This is a really strange issue though especially since not all game pass users are affected.

I think there are multiple things wrong that's causing this. For me I was able to fix it by logging out of the windows store app and the Xbox app, launching the game and logging back into my normal account. 

Creating a new account seems to be a catch all.

i did see some comments saying that it could involve the length of your name and quite a few other factors. i guess we shall just wait. i excited to finally play with my friends on the game.
